EvilBivol-1 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 (edited) it is very stiff answer.I'm sorry if I'm overreacting, but the reality is that I and many other people involved with the project, both paid staff and volunteers, have been spending hours on the forum on nearly a daily basis, answering questions, putting together FAQs, writing up reports, providing product updates, taking screenshots, making videos, etc. Much of this work isn't even officially sanctioned, but we do it to keep people interested, to convey our excitement about the product. ED is undertaking a huge project with this product - independently developing and publishing a highly complex military aircraft simulation line. This is the sort of thing far bigger companies couldn't handle and still can't. Probably everyone involved is pulling three times their own weight in this project. Sorry, but until ED is confident in saying otherwise, "2008" is the best guesstimate they can provide. There are about 100 ways that date can slip and ED has no control over most of them. Doggy Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 For all impatient: I know (and everyone else here) the release date with accuracy of three months.... Oct - Dec 2008 Remember your thoughts in the begining of this year. You would be absolutely satisfied If you had such an information in that time. So what's the problem? Nothing has changed except the fact that we are now closer than ever ;) So no reason to be angry :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] C2D E4500@3GHz + Scythe Katana , 2GB/800, GF9600GT@720 (GV-NX96T512HP), Cyborg Evo, Freetrack (2.2), Samsung 20" @1680x1050, Fortron BSII 400W (peak 430W), Win7 HP x64
deviletk Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I agree to that "when its done" is a bit harsh to newcomers even though you should read FAQ's and forum rules when entering a new forum. But i know many skip that part, me included, even though i started out to read the forum instead of asking that question, and i found the answer pretty quick (hinting the new guys that doesn't read first). :) But if ED say 2008 it should mean that they dont know themselves yet, so 2008 should be a bloody good answer. Its not "we dont know at all" is it? Keep on trucking ED, try finish that beast in peace. ;) Regards Alex Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. telepathiclove Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 You should add a sticky called "Release Date" in my opinion. You'll still get people asking, but it will happen less. The release date (or year) is not easy to find compared to just making a new post. Whenever that happens on a game forum, there are a billion posts a day asking about it :P The only way to help is to have a sticky saying release date, and explaining in 1 sentence or less what the date is, then lock it.

crazysundog Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I'm positive that if ED announced the official release date as Dec. 01/2008, there would still be impatient spam-artists and over-eager fans demanding to be better informed and continuously reassured that ED would make the release date on time; and failing that constant reassuring, the same people would type up posts of woe detailing their inner fears of why ED wont make the date and why... Not that I can blame the fans that voice their opinion, I feel their urge, and it is painful waiting. :badmood:
deviletk Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) You should add a sticky called "Release Date" in my opinion... Maybe just write some keywords in the subtitle of the sticky Q&A, and one of the keywords couold be "projected release date". Just clarify the Q&A a bit. Was just an idea. EDIT: Maybe my idea is bad as you cant add a subtitle that shows in the root thread? Regards Alex Edited September 13, 2008 by deviletk Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. DaWu Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I am fine with 2008. better than postponing it every week over and over and then release a game full of bugs. there are so many other games coming around that will make the wait very comfortable for me.

Grinix Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I think DCS team is doing a great thing by being so open even though they're being pretty much harassed by impatient people who they owe nothing to. i joined up to say my appreciation and to protest against these people, and to hope to encourage DCS to continue to strive for such quality and detail in their future releases. i hope they take all the time they need before releasing black shark and pay no mind to these people. I will be ready to buy and support DCS when black shark is released.

Deadman Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Groove Just do what I do in the construction business . when some non working fool walks up and asks hey when will you be done working on that? I tell him Two weeks. When he comes back by and we are still there working. He will say hey i thought you were going to be done in two weeks .Well we finished what we were working on early so we are working on some thing else now. We will be done in two weeks. LOL Its from the money pit but it still gets people that don't work in the trades and have no concept how long it takes to get some things done. Just like most of us that don't build flight simulator soft ware. So take it easy and I'll see you in around two weeks and i'll bring the coffietake it easy:pilotfly: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
xhaos Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) i am trying to find but without any luck, so i just need to ask this: is there any mailing list that i can subsctibe to, in order to recieve updates? i mean just an email if there are any new producers notes or videos of something important like official preorder and manual. something like the Official Announcements and Updates, but via email. dont wish to fuel any trolling. 159th_Viper Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 ....GIVE us a release date! That's i can tell you about what we want to hear..... You've got about as much chance as a Flatus getting attention in a Perfume Factory.............and IMHO rightly so ;) Your question/demand has been adequately answered countless times by the ED team in numerous posts on these Boards......granted maybe not in the words you would necessarily want to hear - but answered nonetheless, and satisfactorily at that I might add.......... A search/perusal of the relevant threads would have confirmed the above and alleviated the Bout of Stress no doubt induced by yet another request....... One thing is however certain - I am beginning to believe that in the search for the Fountain of Patience you need to look no further............The Admin and Moderator Staff of these boards have their claim thereto firmly staked.........Me - I would have lost my Rag a wee while ago :director::censored::banned: 1 Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? sobek Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Well, you could subscribe to the Dev update thread, that way you'll be informed via mail if somebody posts in that thread. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Jenk Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 What about a generic "TODO" list, aka Backlog if you are using Agile development. Nothing too in depth.. just a general thing to keep us happy.
xhaos Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Hi xhaous, no we dont have a mailing list but i`ll forward your idea. Thanks for your input. Thanks! I really think it will be a valuable tool for now and for the future to recieve emails on addons and so on, as history shows, forum members will reduce over time after release and this would be very cool to keep us all posted.:pilotfly: Well, you could subscribe to the Dev update thread, that way you'll be informed via mail if somebody posts in that thread. Will do this as an alternative! Sure it's taken nearly to the next Ice Age to complete, but as said, Black Shark is just that good. No trolling intended, but with all respect what will be IF it cames out with numerous bugs? It is my understanding that there is just no way to kill every single one of them. Just your remark really raises ambisions! BTW what will ED policy be regarding patches? Small and frequent or few and large? I say this cause there was such a problem with lockon where only 2 patches were contracted and i created problems to wait for them.:joystick: Cheers!
wowo1233 Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Eric,I understand what you are saying here. I have been waiting for this simulation for more than 2 yrs already, i know there are alot ppl waiting for bs even more than me. so it really doesnt matter for me just waiting another 2 or 3 monthes. But i just dont like the way groove answering the question at beginning.
- Piloto da Morte - Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 don't worry it will be release in christmas i know about this. :)
