Canada Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I know, it's an auto-destruct button. You know, the "Star Trek" kind of one, with the lovely computer voice saying the countdown... Helicopters fly.
sobek Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 It's the 'Are you sure?' button for the ejection seat. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

joey45 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 its a 'bodge it and scarper' job of some discription... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. nscode Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 "All Icons"-, "Unlimited Ammo"- and "Invincible"- mode buttons. :joystick: It's Russian hardware, so it's invincible by default. But maybe this is to temporarily disable it for some testing purposes :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Slaunyeh Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 It s a quick reboot button in case of failures. wait 3 buttons ? CTRL ALT DELETE
warthogmadman987 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 IIRC, it is actually RAC, an ancronym for Razor And shaving Cream. It is a new unit developed by a team of engineers designed specifically to allow airmen to land, sleep, wake, and fight without ever being outside the cockpit. It is in testing runs though, and word on the streets is that it is being upgrades to include a toothbrush and floss:)
Rhino4 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 @ warthogmadman: Don't forget the blow-up doll's head for obligatory morning BJ...
warthogmadman987 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 @ warthogmadman: Don't forget the blow-up doll's head for obligatory morning BJ... Yea, somehow they are also going to have to work out a microwave also...
VIKBELL Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 It could be a hand held GPS. Not sure why you would black it out though. There are 2 categories of fighter pilots: those who have performed, and those who someday will perform, a magnificent defensive break turn toward a bug on the canopy. Robert Shaw
sobek Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 It could be a hand held GPS. Not sure why you would black it out though. Why would sombdy want to put a handheld GPS into a helicopter that has a integrated glonass-fed moving map? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Namenlos Ein Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Speaking about conveniences. Perhaps it is a massage chair remote control unit?
GlobalNetwork Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 I'm using an AR Composite technique of multiple angles of the device to blow up the image by 500% so we can take a look at the knobs. It'll be ready in 5 minutes!
GlobalNetwork Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 (edited) This is the best I could do from two sample images. So it's a taped device with a green control knob and two cone buttons taped to the window frame. The second sample didn't have the two upper control knobs so we're lacking a bit more detail on them.
