So my PC is finally done, and I'm still trying to figure out which HMD to go with; Reverb G2 (I do love the eye candy) or Quest 2. I was talking with a coworker of mine who just got his Quest 2 a month or so ago, and he loves it. I brought up the question above, he says he keeps the hand controllers in his lap for when he wants to clickee/pushee.

Is that how it's done? I thought (from watching videos) that there was a little crosshair in the center of your view and you'd look at the switch and hit something mapped to your stick/throttle.

You can do it with the controllers, with the method you described, or just with the mouse

I910900K, 4090, 32gb,Varjo Aero, no compromises: all VR all the time.

Wouldn't using a mouse with a VR headset be a little problematic? Plus, I'm using a gaming chair with a HOTAS/rudder set up. Not sure I have a place for a mouse.

I used to do the Oculus controllers in the lap thing. It worked fine. I liked it better than trying to use a mouse. I did get a PointCtrl though, and that improved things immensely.

Ooooooooo.....I did not need to see that PointCtrl thing. That looks like just the thing!! Thank you both for the input (no pun intended).

PointCTRL seems to be a good solution. Unfortunately, there is a LOOOONG waitlist for it. I placed a pre-order last November, and don't expect it to arrive until this fall at the earliest.

I never turn my VR controllers on, I use a left handed trackball mouse next to my throttle on a custom mount. Because it's a trackball it doesn't move and I know where it is at all times while I'm in VR. Because it's a left handed one and I'm right handed it took a bit of getting used to but it means I can click switches and things without having to take my hand off the stick.

My desk has a pull out pad on the right that I rest my mouse on - with my stick center mounted that gives me the mouse on my right side and easy to reach. So throttle on left of me, stick in center, mouse on right.

I also have mouse functions assigned to buttons on my HOTAS and I will use them from time to time also.

At least until I get the Point Ctrl.

I prefer not to fumble with my VR controllers.
