Legolasindar Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) This is a modification of mine get the main idea of this post. I've put in Down H3, which is the button I use in my profile for the trim. I created two versions, the second is the closest to the original idea for this post. Besides the second is ideal for the Cougars without a dock. All this will be included in the next version of my profile. VERSION 1 Without S3, press Down H3, that blocks the cyclical position in the present, it does not matter that move the joystick, it will not move the cyclical, to unlock, press again H3 Down. With S3, if we press Down H3, is trim. If we want to reset the trim, we have to press and hold the second half. BTN H3D /I KD(X3) DLY(200) KU(X3) /O /T KD(X1) DLY(200) KU(X1) /T KD(X2) DLY(200) KU(X2) DEF X4 DELAY(500) H3D AND S3 DEF X5 NOT H3D AND X1 DEF X6 NOT H3D AND X2 DEF X7 NOT H3D AND X3 BTN X4 Axis_Reset BTN X5 Axis_Lock BTN X6 Axis_Unlock BTN X7 Axis_Trim VERSION 2 Without S3, press Down H3, that blocks the cyclical position in the present, it does not matter that move the joystick, it will not move the cyclical, to unlock, press again H3 Down. With S3, if we press and hold Down H3, the joystick is trim and locks, so we can focus our hands, and release the button, which cancels the blockade but keeps trim, if we want to reset the trim, we have to press and hold half a second. BTN H3D/I /O/TKD(X1)DLY(200)KU(X1)/TKD(X2)DLY(200)KU(X2) DEF X4DELAY(500) H3D AND S3 DEF X5NOT H3D AND X1 DEF X6NOT H3D AND X2 DEF X7 H3D AND S3 BTN X4 Axis_Reset BTN X5 Axis_Lock BTN X6 Axis_Unlock BTN X7/P Axis_Lock Axis_Trim /R Axis_Unlock This should go in the macro file. TMM in Version 1 and 2 Axis_Trim = TRIM(JOYSTICK, TO_CURRENT) Axis_Reset = TRIM(JOYSTICK, 0) Axis_Lock = LOCK(JOYSTICK, LASTVALUE) Axis_Unlock = UNLOCK(JOYSTICK) Edited November 19, 2008 by Legolasindar [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Cavallers del Cel - Comunintat Catalana de Simulació http://www.cavallersdelcel.cat

Is this FOXY code meant to be used instead of the in game trimmer (t)? It can be used as a substitute for the trimming of the simulator. Also in the next version of my profile can be used to trim the two systems, which affects the BS, and the Cougar's own. wed Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 (edited) This manipulations will interfere with ingame trim and autopilot. So we need to disable(not use) ingame autopilot if we want to use Cougar internal trimming. But if we dont have rudders connected to cougar directly thru gameport(like me, examle, I have usb rudder) we cant trim them. If we have Cougar with rudders using this profile give as little bit comfortable trimming. Sinse ED make control logic adapted to force feedback manipulators it will be unrealistic and discomfortable on all sticks without FFB. Edited November 23, 2008 by wed

JG27_Arklight Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Ok - there has been some discussion about the trim system used on the KA-50 in the simulation which takes a bit of getting used to. The reason is in the actual KA 50 the pilot is able to trim the cyclic to any position and leave the stick in that position. In the simulation, the "Trimmer" simulates this as best it can, however, some porpoising of the heli's attitude results because your joystick wants to naturally re-center. Now having said all that, if you have a Cougar joystick and you really want to see how the KA-50 should fly, there is a way to simulate the real KA 50 cyclic in Black Shark to respond very realisticly with the Cougar Foxy software. Simply enter this statement in your profile: BTN S4/I TRIM (JOYSTICK, 0) /O/PLOCK(JOYSTICK, LASTVALUE)TRIM(JOYSTICK, TO_CURRENT) /RUNLOCK(JOYSTICK) What it does is allow the Cougar axis to be reset to it's last axis value when you hold the S4 button and recenter the cyclic. This allows you to re-center the Cougar joystick without changing the aircrafts attitude or get the porpoising that you see using just the Trimmer. I can't say enough good things about what I've discovered with this simulation. I is MORE than worth the wait! Ron I'm sorry, but when you say, "enter this statement in your profile"...what do you mean? How do I go about doing this? I have not used my Cougar in a LONG time. Thanks! Maverick-GER- Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 You need to use your Foxy program for your cougar. Foxy is the program you can make different profiles for your cougar. What you do with it, you set a command to a joystick button in your joystick file and in your macro file you set a keyboard button to a command. (the above statement would have to be in your joystick file) if you need any more help with this , just drop me a pm and we can work on it [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] F-14 Tomcat Rest in Peace (and hopefully get reborn in DCS!) Pizzicato Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Hi guys, I'm having trouble getting the Cougar script to work. :( I copy/pasted it into my *.tmj file and got ERROR 2001: Unknown button name: S4/II quickly figured out that this was because it seems like some spaces had gone missing from the script. Having added all of the relevant spaces, I then got ERROR 2020: Unknown key press in a button statement TO_CURRENTI'm pretty sure that my firmware version is up to date (3.06). Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? Edited December 16, 2008 by Pizzicato Figured it out! There was one last space that I needed to add. Right - I'm off to try this now. Pizzicato Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Oh... my... God... That fix is the single best thing to happen to my fight simming experience in years. After playing around with it in Black Shark and suddenly being able to fly as smooth as silk, I went back and tried the same thing in Flaming Cliffs and Il-2 1946. Unbelievable. Just the most incredible sense of smooth, precise control. I could pinpoint strafe armour in the Su-25T and pick off chunks of 109s at 300m. Lange_666 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 BTN S4/I TRIM (JOYSTICK, 0) /O/PLOCK(JOYSTICK, LASTVALUE)TRIM(JOYSTICK, TO_CURRENT) /RUNLOCK(JOYSTICK) What it does is allow the Cougar axis to be reset to it's last axis value when you hold the S4 button and recenter the cyclic. This allows you to re-center the Cougar joystick without changing the aircrafts attitude or get the porpoising that you see using just the Trimmer. Ron This is one of the best solutions to the "re-center the controls after trimming" bullshit i have come across. Rant on: Bullshit yes because the trim only works like the real thing on ForceFeedback sticks. The way the trim button was implemented (re-center your controls in the next half second after the trim) for sticks/HOTAS combo's without ForceFeedback is a bit of a letdown i think simply because it unnatural to re-center the controls after trimming, besides, a real Ka-50 doesn't do that either and because, if you still have some imput after the trim (controls not yet in center after that 0,5 of a second) you have a problem which you need to correct again. A heavy Cougar with his heavy springs centers a lot differently then a soft Saitek if you know what i mean. Rant off: But since we have to deal with it, Ron's solution is one of the best i've seen so far but it does not deal with rudder input if you have a separate rudder (not attched through a gameport on the Cougar). Is there a way to trim a "detached" rudder without you re-trim the cyclic again? Or can Legolasindar solution add something? I just thought of that right now, one can block the cyclic's input via the H3D, then trim the rudder and then unblock the stick again via H3D so the cyclic does not move anymore? Legolasindar Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) My English is very bad, and so long paragraphs in English, it is difficult to understand me well. I think I have understood you talking about three different points. 1. The need to recenter after the trim. 2. The 0.5 second margin. 3. Hotas separated from the pedals. If not, please correct me, but explain in a simple way for my limited english. 1. The trim of real Ka50, what it does is lock the cyclic, you must remove the functions of the trim programing to simulate this, and replace /P /R by /T, that is putting this: BTN S4 /I /O /T LOCK(JOYSTICK, LASTVALUE) /T UNLOCK(JOYSTICK) or in this way, without /T: BTN S4 /I UNLOCK(JOYSTICK) /O LOCK(JOYSTICK, LASTVALUE) Now S4 freeze the axes of the cyclical and can release the joystick, but I do not trimmer. 2. The 0.5 seconds, just needed in my profile, but it may lengthen, we can put them to 1 second, 1.5 seconds or we want. It also could eliminate that constraint, but would need to redo all that syntaxis to another style. 3. If you have some pedals that are not of TM and are not connected to the Cougar, no solution possible through Foxy directly. It would need to program the pedals to a combination of keys, and Cougar schedule for the same combination, but all this depends on the possibilities offered by the programming of the pedals. Other posible solution is use program for join all devices in one, exist various options. And if you use CH Pro Pedals USB, exist diagram for use CH Pro Pedals USB with Gameport of Cougar. Legolasindar Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 You con join all devices in one with 3ª party programs. For example if you use Cougar Devide 1 and Rudders Device 2, with this programs you can join all in Device 1. You have one device with axis including rudder axis. You only need in foxy program correct axis rudder for Axis Hotas, I think, i not used this programs.
