Maybe obvious but I'm stumped. How can I move the camera so I can see the CDU properly.

I am trying to get familiar with operating the cockpit and the ejection seat handle on the right of the pilot seat is in the way of the controls.

Can I hide the entire seat and ejection handle?  Move my "virtual pilot head" to the right?  I have tried every mouse and view and keyboard command that I could find and no luck.  The head of this virtual pilot is on a swivel and is firmly bolted to mid-seat position.

(Yes I know the CDU button on the right side display can mirror it but that's crappy because there are other controls, like the one to start the APU that are also obscured by default). Surely it's possible to have a better "look" around at plane cockpits.

RCtrl+RShft and the numpad, / and * translates your viewpoint in the cockpit.

It's worth it spending a half hour or so playing with all the view controls so you get an idea of what's possible 🙂

I tried the FaceTrackNoIR software (with webcam) and it's quite wonky. I'm gonna try one of the track-ir-alikes.

However any Logitech gaming mouse with buttons like the G600, with mappings to the translate view and the mouse-cursor-on thing makes a pretty immersive "cockpit experience". It's just no fun to try to manage that while flying, and while flying and dodging AAA.

I use Open Track, which uses a modified Playstation PS-Eye camera and a USB powered IR LED head clip. Cost me around $40 and 2 hours of my time to modify the camera and set everything up. No complaints and it is way better than using a mouse or keyboard for changing your view. Can see the CDU or any of the side panels much easier.

My clever trick was to use the CTRL Joystick YAW and PITCH to move the camera exactly where I need, with a little POV hat and ZOOM, you can put your face directly in front of any part of the COCKPIT.  Some try pressing the mouse wheel and holding (didnt work for me), or other.

If you goto AXIS setup and map a CTRL or ALT key with Joystick to "Absolute Move Horizontal ..." & Vertical. and if you want a quick way to look behind map The ROLL as well. The ABSOLUTE part actually moves your face left and rt up & down , not just pan like the hat switch does.  ITs like you are out of your seat, and release the CTRL key and the camera stays !  While yuo are flying you can still use this because your joystick will not be flying once you press CTRL / ALT but the plane will maintain where it left off. OF course if you are on autopilot its even less problematic, or on the ground.

This is actually just like Track IR  perhaps less optimal. And no MOUSE !

Also here is a very clever way to Save Cockpit Angles with ALT-0 and apply them to the NUM PAD.  I used my method to move the camera into position and then SAVE the VIEW.
