I know, it's an "old"  serie, but I'm now watching it for about the 4th time now I think and man, I love it! 🤩

For those that didn't see it yet, I strongly advise you to do so.

I do wonder though, how accurate this serie is. I mean, I can imagine stuff really went down like this on the frontline. But perhaps someone here can chime in and tell me otherwise.. Either way.. I really like the kind of messed up situation this serie visualizes and how those guys dealt with it, realistic or not. Also some of the phrases that pass by in this serie, are hilarious 😂

It also gives food for thought on new DCS scenarios, especially with the Apache about to be released.

..3 times for me at the moment, and looking forward to my old brain forgetting enough of it so I can watch again!

We currently lack facilities in DCS though, to be able to do a Brad and take a strategic dump 🤣

What a great series. The teammembers were involved with the project throughout. A LOT of they’re input made it into the series. Generation Kill is the only HBO series that I own.

Hehe yeah, luckily my brain tends to easily forget stuff 😁

But even though I forget details, I dare to say this serie is in my top 3 all time favorites.

Series goes to show, the cream always rises to the top, and the turds float on top of that! Even in the military.

Easily one of the greatest war series, up there with Band of Brothers and The Pacific

and that's the trilogy really. I'm struggling to think of any other great war  series. Mash I suppose, but showing my age now.

The movie Jarhead has very similar Gulf War setting and dark humour to gen Kill

Ha, I've literally done the same thing and last week, when I watched it for the 4th time (I have it on BluRay). It's one of my most favorite series/movies ever, because of how accurate it depicts the military and makes pretty much no compromise in that regard which makes it a bit difficult to understand for people with no military knowledge.

This video dives a bit into what makes this series so special in that regard:

And if you're still wondering how accurate this series actually is, then take a look at this real life video from Operation Iraqi Freedom (the guy in the background on the left is the reporter in his dessert mopp suit ) :

I'm also not sure if you're aware, but a couple of the real soldiers played in the series, with one of them (Sgt. Rudy Reyes) playing as himself.

Wow! The Gothfather actor really is spot on!

Even the stances of the other guys are replicated :clap_2:

And I didn't know that about Reyes. Cool info @QuiGon

I'm not sure who or has not seen this series...people use to make fun of me for not watching it...I simply replied, "AT LEAST MY MOTHER TOOK ME TO NASCAR!!!"...

Seriously, the funniest scene is when the infamous, "TRANSLATOR" SCENE... You know...When the CO takes Meesh to speak to locals desperate to find remnants of Tanks they called airstrikes on the night before... Nothing but "BIG FIREBALLS...AND KILLING ALOT OF WICKED SAND...THE SAND...ITS SO EEEEVIL"

I watched and very much liked this one not alot of Hollywood magic.

By all means, if you are going to post a gif from him here, it should be this one:
