dburne Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 (edited) So after sending my Vive Pro 2 off for repair I wanted to use my Reverb G2 with my flight sims. I have the Index which is working fine but flight sims look a lot better in the Reverb G2. Got my Reverb G2 set back up this morning and it was gorgeous for a short time except now am having issue with it. Mine was an early one with the first revision of the cable. Now after launching into a game the headset goes dark shortly afterwards, still see mirror image on monitor but nothing in headset. Tried reseating the cable in the headset and did not help. Anyone know who to contact at HP regarding getting a new cable for this unit? Also mine may not be in warranty at this point I see they have a cable listed on their site: https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-reverb-g2-6-meter-cable Would this be the new improved version anyone know? The G1 Pro was supported by the business side and the workstation team when phoning up. Not sure how the G2 is supported. The cable turned up a couple of days later. I found HP to be very helpful, they also replaced the headset three times in that two years. Fragile product with great support in my experience. I just went ahead and ordered the new cable from HP with priority shipping so hopefully I will have in couple of days or so . I need it quick lol and figured I am out of my warranty anyways as I got the G2 when it was first released. I have since moved to the Vive Pro 2 but it has just been sent off for warranty repair or replacement so will be without it for a time. And I would prefer to have the G2 still for MSFS 2020 as it does so much better in it due to Open XR support for WMR. Vive Pro 2 is great for DCS. I read a review from a guy on the cable he got two months ago and it was the new improved cable and he has no issues at all with it. So hopefully that will be good for me as well. That is definately the new revision of the G2 cable in that link. I can see the tiny power button in the top corner of the link box so you're good. I managed to get one for free as I was within the 12 month warranty but $89 seems like a good deal as I'm sure they were originally advertised at over $200. The new cable solved my AMD USB connection issue which had meant I could only use via an external USB hub. To get the cable for free I just had to call HP support and explain my problem. For now I am very impressed and pleased with HP and his customer service. If your glasses are in warranty is all you must do to receive the new cable. I found the issue for me was that the WMR setting for putting the display to sleep was to 5 mins, not sure if an update change this setting but once I change that to never it stopped shutting down the display while using it, both cables work fine. i7 10700K, RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB RAM, Reverb G2, Quest 3

Mine was similar, used for for an hour with no problems one day, next day display was continually shutting of but steamVR, WMR, dcs all working as they should just just no display. The previous problem I had that was cable related always came with an WMR error or some other software crashing, this time is was just no display hence looking into those settings. i7 10700K, RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB RAM, Reverb G2, Quest 3

This sounds like the exact same problem I have now with my Reverb G2, I'm sending mine in for RMA to HP.

Well I will be the son of a drunken sailor! That was it on my end! Thank you so very much! Except in my case under sleep mine was set by default to " Let Windows Decide". I changed that setting to "Never" and just tested in a long session, no more headset blackouts! And here I have the new improved cable arriving later today - oh well won't hurt to have it - but there was nothing wrong with my headset or cable! And here I could have been flying all day yesterday augh! I can only imagine how many new Reverb users this default setting might affect and lead them to believe something is wrong with theirs as well. Definitely more robust, the Link box is about 1/3rd larger than the original and has a power button on it which is nice, no more needing to unplug it. Working great for me - of course that ended up not being my issue as it turned out but glad I got it anyways.
