I've made a simple mission where I places IFVs on a Handy Wind tanker "for narrative purposes" and when I went in to test how it's picked up from TGP I noticed they can be invisible when watched from certain angles.

Then I went to F9 view and same thing was displayed there, so it's not TGP related issue. I'll link the track, mission file and a YT video my SQN mate made that describes the issue.


Video describes the F9 view, but on track you can see it from the aircraft perspective too.

Haven't tried that, I could test it when I get home. I do have to point out that they are static objects. If I use active objects, then I get bug described here:

Sorry for late reply.

Other than Tacview and SRS, I have T-45 and ZeDim static pack. I've disabled both, ran the track file again and I still experience the issue. Then I ran repair with those mods still disabled and that didn't help also... 

Then I reloaded the mission, placed couple of units on helipad to test and I found out a weird thing. As seen on a new track file, at first I loaded the mission, selected the aircraft and went straight to F9 view of the ship. Rotated around it multiple times and the units were visible. Then I went to A-10, put TGP on the ship and the units disappeared from TGP view. Went to F9 again and then the units on the ship were visible only from certain angles.

it might be because of your very wide screen. have you tried the standard 1920x1080 and see if the problem remains? might be worth a try and perhaps explanation why flappie doesnt see it.

DCS has many ancient bugs in deciding whats in sight and what isnt.

ive run the second track and the problem was exactly the same as in vakarian's video.

The same can EASILY be seen with contrails, ground units, city and runway lights at night etc. Items pop in depending on your head position and zoom level.

 

Has been like this for years.

Hmmm, I've never noticed this for the ground units. I know that contrails can disappear when they are a bit farther and you look at them from a random position, but I didn't encounter this issue with ground units or aircraft

Hey @Flappie

I've used the track "ifvsDisapperingV2.trk" from couple of posts up and I can still reproduce the issue on latest OB. Initially IFVs are shown, but when I hop in the A-10 and look at the ship through the TGP they start disappearing...

All I've done is let the track replay, haven't taken command at any point.

Hi there @Flappie. Thanks for not forgetting this 🙂

As far as I can see, the issue seems to be resolved. Watched the track (yeah, it is nice how it still works) and for the whole duration the IFVs were visible on the ship. We have a saying in my team at work "Due to sufficient time passage, the issue seems to have fixed itself".

Pass along the thanks to the team, they must have done something to fix the rendering issue.

Also, for everyone else watching. this is why we do tracks for bug reports. Might seem meaningless, but it isn't.
