I still have to adjust a few small things with the radar, the switches binded with Button id from clickabledata.lua not working correctly, unfortunately i have to change to keybinds for that.

And i have to integrate the MCL.

Just found this new update, looking for the answer to a question:

How to get a keybind for "call the ball", like the F/A-18C.

Already have the salute for launch, but the no grade/comms traps are weak.

Really enjoy this Scooter.

While all y'all are in a good mood...

How much trouble would it be to up-rate the flight dynamics to produce a Mike model, powered by a J52-P-408 with 11,200 lbf of thrust, everything else same/same?

Fly the Scooter a lot, and while the traditional E model is great for the 60's-70's environment, an ACM version for the legacy F/A-18 era would be sweet, and take it into the millennium.

Really enjoy the Scooter.

 

EDIT: Upon further research, this Echo model appears to be upgraded to the Foxtrot spec., with its 9,300 lbf J52-P8A/8B engine, wing spoilers for landing role-out, and the capability to shoot AIM-9 Sidewinders.

Good decision for a long-lived, multi-role A/C.

 

As for the Mike model: now have a alternate A-4E-C.lua file, that reflects the J52-P-408's 11,200 lbf thrust and 17 lbs of additional weight, as well as an additional 100 rds. of 20x110mm ammo for the Colt Mk 12's, and its accompanying 119 lbs. (for the combat weight)

Community A-4E-C v2.3 (May 2025) bug report:

On Super Carrier - Main Gear float well above the deck, maybe six(6") inches.

Nose wheel is tight to the deck.

This is a quick Cat launch track made yesterday, w/ the 2.2.

This is the same cut today, w/ the 2.3, that shows the issues.

Disregard.

Was calculating [6.0 lb./gal AvGas], not ~6.8 lb./gal. JP-5 jet fuel.

DCS: 5,440 lbs. (800 gal. JP-5)

In the pattern, from a little high to on speed, is very good.

From on speed to low? ... quickly goes to what amounts to re-entering the atmosphere in a space capsule.

Literally shaking ones eye-balls loose.

Will post a track.

Just some more - is all that is needed.

RE: the Mike model w/ the augmented A-4E-C.lua file. (see above post)

Would like to have it available as an A/C, for GWOT missions, with the least amount of redundancy.

Basically a name change where necessary w/ the augmented .lua file, and any other renamed/copy-over files/folders.

Like a skin.

Please advise.

 

EDIT:

Just found that the DCS MiG-15bis/MiG-15bis_FC are set up this way, two unique .lua files in the same MiG-15bis A/C folder.

Will investigate.

I am having trouble with TACAN on some maps. On Caucuses map this works fine, but on Marianas or on Syria it does not. I am setting up new mission with just the plane and I do not get bearing or range to the TACAN station to the airfield I am on. Tanker does not work either. Trying a different plane on the same mission works fine. I can't figure out why that is happening. Is there some bug with it?

At the moment all ground stock TCN beacons except for Caucasus are not working. There is a report on Github for that

But for me all Air TCN ( tankers ), Ships ( Carriers ) and portable beacons placed by hand are working as intended

Tanker TACAN doesn't work for me on Marianas either. Can you try this mission?

There is A-4E and F/A-18C both airstart, and a tanker on 1X. In the A-4E, the TACAN is not being picked up. In The F/A-18C it does. I've tried different TACAN channels, too.

Edit: Actually, I just tried with a Tanker on Caucuses and the A-4E is just not getting it, doesn't look like it's tied to any map for air TACAN.

On your mission @guitarxe the TCN is not working because you didnt edited the asociated name of the tanker to the activation TCN line

As you can see in the image, NOTHING should be changed to the Tanker linked to the TACAN, like the second image. Then the TCN beacon is working. You sholud do the same for Carriers or portable TCN placed by hand, assign the units name to the Tacan activate atribute.

Oh, how strange that it works without changing that for the F/A-18C. I thought there was something not working because it worked in that aircraft. Thanks for pointing it out! 😀

Another big Thank You for the option to remove the ECM Panel.

The original system unit was so bulky that they removed the 20mm Ammo cans and installed it there.

So no guns.

And a Fighter w/o guns is like a woman without...

Yeah.

On that note:

How much trouble would it be to pull all the ECM "ice-cream cones" off the Model?

Like having a Bf-109K-4... when everything in theater is G-6 or even an F-4.

Just doesn't look right.

When starting instant action for A-4E-C I get the error message (attached) that CH-47 and CH-53 mods are incompatible with the A-4E-C and have to be removed. After clicking "ignore" the instant action still starts without any noticeable functions missing. What's going on?

Still got this strange error message with latest patch 2.9.18.12722.

That error is not going away by updating DCS. It's literally written what it is, a mod conflict with undefined behaviour and memory corruption. There is a report in the known issue list that mentions one of the possible behaviours.

So you have 3 options.

1) ignore the warning and continue.

2) uninstall the A-4

3) uninstall the CH-53 and CH-47 mod
