II.JG1_Vonrd Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Here's 37+22 in worn Norm 90J. I was planning to do it next in Norm 72 and I was sure that I'd seen photos of it as such but can't find it now, so I might have to substitute a different number. kotor633 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 One of the nicest skins we have for the German PhantomII here in DCS World. Thank you for that. ************************************** DCS World needs the Panavia Tornado! Really! **************************************
II.JG1_Vonrd Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) Posted in the comments section of the User Files post: Gr4v3d1gg3r1986 02/08/2025 23:30:58 Awesome livery, but the Phantom pilots in Germany used mostly the HGU 55 helmet at 2010 not the HGU 2 . But still a very very nice livery, especially the used look . I tried to post a link to photographic evidence but links don't work in the comment section in User Files. Thanks for the compliment. I have to disagree about the helmets used in this particular aircraft at the time that the reference photos were taken. Zooming in clearly shows them wearing some variant of HG 2. Edited February 10 by II.JG1_Vonrd
Yannick Pancake Posted February 10 Posted February 10 As far as I know it's actually a HGU 55 Version, the HGU 55G, but we don't have it in DCS and it looks pretty close to the HGU 2. The only real optical difference I can tell is that the visor adjustment is on the left side, not central. Yannick "Pancake" CO VF-14 - vCVW Two PILOT [pahy-luh t] - noun 1. Volator Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I agree, these are HGU-55s used in the GAF from the late 80s on. 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven
II.JG1_Vonrd Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Well, I guess that I stand corrected but the HGU-55 in DCS does not look like the ones shown in the photo. The photo looks closer to the HGU-2 so I'm going to leave it as is.
Yannick Pancake Posted February 10 Posted February 10 This is what I meant, even though it's not a 55, the HGU 2 looks close enough to me and certainly better than the DCS 55 Yannick "Pancake" CO VF-14 - vCVW Two PILOT [pahy-luh t] - noun 1. The boys and I are in desperate need for some USMC Phantom liveries to go in our Vietnam experience in the video below. We created a section for the USMC out of Andersen with A-4 and will populate with Crusaders and Intruders when they release. I was hoping to be able to put client F-4E's along with some statics on deck until a proper USMC variant is released by Heatblur. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to make some USMC skins for Heatblurs F-4. Not to interested in the VSN mod. Below are a few examples of what we would be looking for but open to suggestions. You can see where I will be placing the F-4's in the video. Just thought I would repost my old thread and throw a hook in the water again to see if anyone is interested in making some USMC Vietnam Era liveries for the old girl. We are in desperate need for some to place in our Vietnam Mission.

I didn't see anything in the User Files for the Royal Navy. Someone did make some RAF ones if those are of interest: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3339149/ Maybe I'll try and crack off a Royal Navy F-4 later this week if I can find some free time! I haven't tried any F-4 skins yet. 1

II.JG1_Vonrd Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Depicted is a Luftwaffe F-4F-53-MC, 38+66, SN 72-1276, CN 4784 of JG71 painted in NORM 72 camouflage with red rudder, stabilizer tips and fuselage patch to ease identification during air combat training. As photographed during the 1979 Neuburg air show. It would subsequently be one of the Phantoms in the "Phantom Pharewell" send-off celebration on June 27, 2013 at Wittmundhafen Air Base, Germany. All Phantoms were subsequently retired from service with the Luftwaffe. This depiction was based on the default skin "37+36_N72_JG74" with some variation of the camouflage as noted in period photographs of this particular airframe. Some items of note: * All placards / stencils re-done in text and graphic vectors. * Crew given period orange flight suits with appropriate patches and orange flight suit visible in the the first person pilot view. The default command to turn the pilot body on / off is LShft+P. * Crew given period Luftwaffe side caps (garrison caps). * Crew's gloves specified as white gloves by custom args and gloves depicted as worn and grimy. * Engine exhausts darkened to reflect the appearance in period photographs. Colors match the default skin "37+36_N72_JG74" and were kindly provided by Ben_Der. The Greek liveries are too clean! https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3344324/ Perhaps you will find this to your liking. As I have also mentioned in the liveries-lair channel on Heatblur's Discord, I really hope that at some point, their livery team will revisit the Hellenic Aegean Ghost liveries. Respectfully I would like to point out that the hues (especially FS35237) are way too vibrant compared to the real aircraft. - Livery Catalog - Youtube channel
LanceCriminal86 Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 Maybe it's a contrast thing but the "35237" used on their F-4s just doesn't seem to jive with the same shade as used on things like the Tomcat and other Navy aircraft. Maybe it's the juxtaposition of the other colors but the HAF one always has seemed far more "blue" to me. I had experimented with using the same shade as I had used on Tomcats and it just didn't look right. Other big issues is trying to find good HAF jet shots where folks haven't blown out the contrast or gone with "HDR" or faux HDR style shots where the balance is completely out of whack to emphasize all the grunge. The middle shot seems to be better balanced at least. Heatblur Rivet Counting Squad™ VF-11 and VF-31 1988 [WIP] VF-201 & VF-202 [WIP]
