Flight of 2  (1 player, 1 AI)

- from ramp to taxi: once leader (player) request ATC to taxi, AI (wingman) taxi without waiting for the leader to be first

- take off: Leader (player) (after requesting to take off to the ATC) enters on the runway, get aligned slowly....the AI enters the runways and drive over the leader (explosion guaranteed)

 

This bugs happen everytime !!!

I think the first issue, AI Taxi Before Player, has to do with line of sight at startup. If the AI can look out the cockpit and see you, he will wait and fall in behind you. If not (eg: starting in shelter or lined up with his back to you--as can happen at Butami, for instance), he will roll without waiting, even if he can "see" you as he rolls by. In the shelter start track, he rolls by and takes off before me. In the second track, he can see me at startup, waits, and follows. Do watch the takeoff in this track. As long as I'm blocking the runway, he follows meekly. As soon as I slide to the side, he roars past me. There wasn't a collision but there would have been if I had moved a bit to my left at the wrong time.

Dear all, 

Please find the track. sorry for the delay. 

1) when I request taxi for runway, no2 start taxiing before me. He sees me but will taxi even if I don't move . On the track, it is less obvious because I also wanted to show the crash

2) look at the take off. He crashes into me

I deleted the references to the mods in the mission and was able to load it. His wingnut has LOS from several spaces further down the flight line with no intervening aircraft. In my viewing he waited and followed down to the runway. Cobragva lined up on the runway centerline. His wingnut followed him and lined up. Then, with C still sitting there, his wingnut went to full burner and crashed into him.

Besides the mods, the mission also has a number of other things—triggers and, perhaps, scripts running—based on what I saw in the mission file. So I don’t know if one of those might be responsible for what occurred.

Here you go. This shows his second issue: the AI attempting to take off through the player. I recreated his mission in terms of both his and the AI’s ramp location at Kobuleti, date and time of day, as well as cloud selection. The AI waited and followed as he did when I viewed Cobravga’s TRK and crashed into me at takeoff. His behavior at takeoff was a bit different from the other track but that might just be due to where I stopped.

So the question now is whether this behavior is airbase specific or FA-18 specific or something else. I didn’t have time to investigate further.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that I first opened his trk in the ME and removed all AI elements, triggers, and trigger elements. Ran the trk, it played back as I noted in my previous post. I then opened the trk file and removed the two script folders it contained. Ran the trk again with no difference in the AI’s behavior. At that point I decided to start with a blank slate which is the TRK attached to this post. This is why I suspect the behavior is most likely either airbase or aircraft specific.

Three more TRK files which leave me puzzled. The FA-18 is from Gudauta, the other two are Kobuleti. The Su-27 AI rolled prematurely and would have rolled past me, if I hadn't started to move. But he waited until I was well down the runway before he even entered the runway. Both the FA-18 and A-10C AI rolled prematurely (two different airbases with line of sight), lined up right behind me on the runway, and attempted to take off through me.

It seems common that the flight will take off regardless of lead being stationary at runway. Example F16 King Of The Hill mission (Syria)  There is another 4 ship mission (name  forgotten) where jets start outside of shelters. A request for taxi has the flight A.I moving at once and its a race to get in front at a junction. They also take off after flowing past lead at runway threshold. Same if lead did not get ahead.

I dont see an issue with the flight moving before I do, and no issue with taxiing behind me and waiting for me to go, but that is with todays fix internally.

If you play the tracks in my last post with this new build, do the non-FC3 aircraft still takeoff through you?

Ok. Thanks. The crashing only took place in the FA-18 and A-10C tracks. As far as the Su-27 track is concerned, there was no crash originally. My wingnut actually waited for me to get well into my takeoff roll before proceeding out onto the runway. But it’s interesting that they still move too soon in these tracks.
