Apologies if this has already been asked - are there any plans to update how Force Feedback trim works in the UH60? I'll try and check this evening, but I think at the moment it's similar to how the Gazelle used to (up til this week) function, where hitting 'trim' ends up doubling your input because the position of the stick is calculated as an offset from the trim point, which is wrong for FFB sticks.

Can post more info later if needed!

For my part, I'm going to integrate your patch into my Mod MH-60R, although it's a maritime model and will have little opportunity to go into combat against tanks. 😉

Salute

It does not matter if you are flying the mod at the time. With the mod installed without the fix attempting to drive a tank will result in no sound. I believe it is to do with the Sounders file.

Hi all, This is an awesome mod. Justa questions on the Doppler/GPS system. Is there anyway to keybind the INC and DEC so you can change your waypoint in flight without crashing and burning?

I cannot find a way to even do a live pause that allows you to make selections/changes to the nav system.

Thanks in advance ,,, I am sure this has been asked a million times. I just cannot find it.

Setup keys on the screenshot. But proper page (DIST/BRG TIME) have to be selected on AN/ASN-128B GPS DPLR

I downloaded the latest release, but still don't have weapon options.

This mod doesn’t have weapons. There are sub-mods (MH60, armed SH60?) that have weapons. This is just transport/utility.

Are there any keybinds for the HMD? On/off in particular? I couldn’t find anything when searching for AVS or similar…

Nvm, can see them in source code so I probably need to update.

As of 1.3.2, UH-60L is kind of easy to fly and hover. It almost hovers itself. The only danger is overpitching (cyclic not rotor) causing unarrested nose up, when bringing helicoipter from fast fwd flight to hover. I keep trying to be Nightstalker from Blackhawk Down and Zero Dark Thirty, with 'mixed' results. My question is DCS UH-60L easy to fly becouse of its simple flight model, that is unrealistic, or it is a realistic FM but real UH-60L has all sorts of flight control aids helping the pilot?

I'm pretty sure it's "very" simplistic. It's the easiest module to AAR in by far after all. Everyone who's struggling with AAR should practice in this one to get "the feel" for what you are trying to accomplish. Then it should be much easier in the Hornet, and then the more demanding ones. Hopefully it will be Polychop's next module after the Kiowa, and we can compare the two.

Cheers!

Whats AAR?

When I am away from DCS helicopters for some time, I practice my chops in UH-1H. Hardest rotary in DCS is Gazelle (new FM), followed by AH-64. I don't have MI-24 or MI-8. KA-50 is fairly easy to fly. Hovering a DCS: Gazelle is like being a dragonfly on a windy day. Odd that in real world Gazelle is considered to have 'docile' handling for a light helicopter. OH-6/MD-500 is considred an 'adults only' helicopter, requiring high degree of skill and practice to safely operate.

Air-to-Air refuelling.

I love flying the Huey, I find it to be the most stable to fly, although not tried the Soviet birds yet. I agree that the Gazelle is a bit bonkers, followed by the Apache - the Apache I mostly struggle with the trim settings, but having re-read the manual I'm getting more used to it. I like the simplicity of the Huey and can pull off some pretty aggressive landings now having had some practise!

There's a littlebird mod in development, should be interesting to see how that flies. I have high hopes for the Kiowa, looks like it'll fit perfectly into my want for something slightly more agile/aggressive than the Huey, but not as bonkers as the Gazelle. Plus: buddy lasing!!

Also autohover in the Gaz does work at the mo: get it fairly stable then hit the switch and you can hop seats, only having to make the occasional correction 😄

My friend, I can feel your frustration, but you really should get a head tracker, or a face tracker. There are some really cheap alternatives out there. Even free AFAIK.
It will be your favorite device, that I promise. When you hover you want to look out at an angle, and at the same time being able to glance at your instruments. Get a cheap second monitor and start using Helios!
The Gazelle is VERY twitchy with a short stick. And preferably, you want to rest your hand on your thigh. And I'm sure the FM will be tweaked several times in the future.
Make sure you set the NADIR so you can monitor your ground speed. Also set the artificial horizon selector to doppler, and it will show you witch way you drift. Center the "cross", and you hover.

Not sure if these tracks will work for you, but in the first one I hover and shoot, but I get cocky and miss the last one, as I drift a little and the missile hit an obstacle. The second shot, you can see on the TV that they shoot at me and I have to take some evasive maneuvers, but I still hit.
The second track I just fly and shoot at the same time. Mind you, I use two joysticks for this, which is an excellent option in the Gazelle.

OH-6/AH-6 or civi with MD500 with 5 blade rotor is probably the most agile, along with BO-105 , rotaries in world. Ever! Which means they are BlairWitch to hover untill you get 500 hours and have very sensitive HOTAS. I think that while X56 with Thrustmaster pedals (plastic) is OK, its lacking for DCS helicopters. The signal is noisy. DCS input need to filter the input, and whatever filtereing they do, it aint enought. People with higher end controls have much better time.

My preferred heli stick is at least 20 years old. What do you mean by noise? If you have faulty pots in your stick, (it doesn't have magnetic sensors?), there's nothing ED can do about it.
Like I've told you before Get a cheap second hand stick. Take out the spring, strap two rubber bands around the grip. Duct tape a short pole to the grip, so your hand can rest on your lap. Then then go fly.

If you bring up centering in either DCS or in JOY.CPL . Do a rudder deflection and see the caret dancing a bit.

I see. Then I guess you might have spiky potentiometers. Only trouble I have with any of my devices, is a spiky pot in the twist grip of my TM T16.000M which I have never used. To bad it can't be locked, but I use it as a radar stick in the Mirage F1/Viggen and in the Gazelle were it absolutely excels.
Seriously, watch my tracks and see what you can do with head tracking and a second stick.
My greatest regret was not getting head tracking for 20 years plus when I first heard of TrackIR. I did get VR back in the 90s though. Guess I just was waiting for something better. Hehe

I hate VR. Specifically I  hate VR headsets. If they ever become size and weight of Oakley glasses, perhaps then. I dislike TrackIR, as I have to wear something. I hope TrackIR evolves into TrackEyes&Track Face, or something like that, and has to work in the dark.

But back to potentiometers. There is next to nothing I can do about them. Its the way it is. When current TM pedals die, then I'll get something else, within my budget.

TurtleBeach seems to be new player in flight sim controls. For a fact I won't be getting anything from Logitech. Quality control is so poor from Logitech. OMG!

Yeah, they look kinda ridiculous! 😅

I got my first, (only, look at my avatar), one because it was supposed to be more comfortable. And it was. And to this day it still is the weight was totally balanced. Incredible sound with huge drivers. No sweating. You could just "lift" the "lenses", so it was not necessary to take the "helmet" off when doing something else. The 3D vision/stereoscopic view was applied after the image was rendered, which meant no performance reduction overall. Screen door effect was horrendous though, as the LCDs are smaller than my smallest nail. LOL! Tracking was nice. Duke Nukem 3D was a blast. Native support in EF2000.

As for TrackIR. You're not wearing headphones then I suppose. Being a Walkman child I have no issues with that. Makes VoiceAttack work better too. Well, get face tracking, eye tracking or similar. You're limiting the game to give you a better experience.

I have the same pedals, (just don't use them anymore). I was sure both the TWCS throttle and the pedals used magnetic sensors. Not only the stick. Did TM lie to me? One tip for the pedals. There's a 3D printable mod out there, that makes them wider, and turn them upside down. One screw, remove the lid, remove the spring when you fly helis. With a little practice, you can get the spring back in seconds for airplanes. I also applied some Nyogel 767, to simulate a damper. It got a lot easier to use them then.

Started using my trusted Saitek Cyborg 3D when I got into DCS in 2016, because that was the only USB stick I had. If you can, start looking for an Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. You will not regret it for helis. Lacks buttons and hats, but that can be modded. I've got like five of them now.

Cheers!
