dureiken Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Hi I recently started to play on MP server and often planes are not in he same flight. I ould like to know if it's possible to change datalink configuration to be on same flight than friends, to see them in blue on HSD and see what they are targetting ? thanks a lot
_SteelFalcon_ Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 (edited) sadly this feature is not yet implemented and you will be stuck in the "flight" as placed down in the mission editor by the creator but if you know your friends callsign, you can still see his targets. Example: your friend is Colt 1-1 and you at Springfield 1-4, he will see targets that you lock up with SP14 above the contact on the Radar screen, and you will see his target as CT11 on radar. however, if multiple guys target the same guy, all you get is an "M" over the bandit Edited April 14, 2022 by _SteelFalcon_
Tholozor Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 You can also change your DLINK callsign on the DED and it'll reciprocate on the displays. Once there you use sequence on the dobber switch and there should be a two letter, two number combination on one of the pages (like ED 11 for Enfield 1-1). Then you select that field and use the Increment/Decrement switch and ENTER to select the correct letters and then input the numbers via the numpad on the ICP. -Col. I have to put my friend callsign and he has to do the same for mine ? what will it change ? thanks
WHOGX5 Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 23 minutes ago, dureiken said: I have to put my friend callsign and he has to do the same for mine ? what will it change ? thanks No, it's your own callsign code. It does not "connect" you to your friend or put you on the same net, that's set through the STN's and fighter channel which are other functions which aren't implemented yet. Your callsign code is simply the first and last letter of your callsign and your flight number. So if you're callsign is Dodge 2-1 your code will be DE21. This is set automatically in the mission but for people who use custom callsigns that aren't in DCS they have to set it themselves. So if you lock a hostile, other players will see DE21 displayed over the target on their HSD. Also when you're just flying around, other pilots will see DE21 over your datalink symbol. 1 -Col. Ignition Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 The F16 needs this feature, in multiplayer is essential. 1
Frederf Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 I've changed the callsign value but I have heard that this change isn't seen by other clients. Is the player-set callsign propagating over the network? In reality the team STNs can be edited from cockpit but donor STNs can't. They can only come from DTC. 1
_SteelFalcon_ Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 (edited) It does send it over the network (or at least it did last time i tried) but awacs will still call you by your original CS as set in the editor Edited April 14, 2022 by _SteelFalcon_

A workaround would be to work with TACAN Yardstick, then at least the distance to your friend is always displayed, in connection with the datalink it should then always be easy to distinguish him from others. In air combat this method should be used as standard in flights anyway.

777coletrain Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I see that it's planned, but is this going to be added during early access?
