Ash Lynx Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 The IADS interest post seems to be missing or deleted. Can someone explained why it is missing, maybe because the deal fell through or something. Just looking for official clarification to manage expectations. Thank you 5

There was some talk of ED core improvements, just not to the level as described. And while threads may be closed, I've not seen any hidden/deleted. EDIT: This was the original post for the first thread: Quote Dear all, We have been approached by a new 3rd Party, a radar technology company, who would like to gauge the interest in a DLC to allow you to build, command and manage an Integrated Air Defense Network. Features considered right now would be the following: Real-world limits: delays in communications, ambiguous radar contacts, level of training, fatigue Build the IADS network in the Mission Editor Automatic or pre-set reactions to threats and air attacks Rules of Engagement, No-Fire sectors Logistic component (ammunition replenishment) management Ability to fight against the IADS or command it (like the Combined Arms) Monitor the network and Issue commands in real-time via a dedicated interface Act as a General commanding the Air Defence in whole or commander of a specific military unit (platoon, battery, battalion, regiment) * Please note the features are not final and subject to change. The purpose of this poll right now is simply to see if people would be interested in a paid DLC/module for something such as this. Yes = Yes I would be interested in paying for such a module/DLC No = I have no interest in paying for such a module/DLC Which was then followed up: Quote And update from the team looking at this: We will have an internal discussion about this topic next week but for now, some things I can tell right away: There would have to be some DCS Core functionality to integrate our module seamlessly. My idea was to go the same way as the Supercarrier module. IADS network could be auto-generated by just pressing the button in the Mission Editor (pre-defined or user-defined rules) – this would be available to everybody. The ability to build the network would be part of the DCS, as well as necessary functional links. Everybody would be able to build and fight the IADS, but only the module owners could run the Command & Control Interface and interact with it. In other words: Everybody will be able to generate or build it Everybody will be able to see it Everybody will be able to suppress or destroy it Only the module owner will be able to issue commands and control the network and the units. Basics of Electronic Warfare – different types of jamming and its effects (simulation). Given the overwhelming complexity of the topic, we are considering to do it as a separate module. More info will follow. We will not simulate the individual SAM systems or units – not enough publicly available information (besides, it would be incredibly boring, by our opinion). Our idea is to simulate an Air Defense system as a whole. Then in the 2nd thread: Quote As a follow up to their initial post found here, they wanted to update you on where they are at right now. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/244019-checking-interest-on-dcs-iads-integrated-air-defense-network/?do=findComment&comment=244896 Hello everyone! We have been closely monitoring the poll and all your feedback. We can assure you that all of your answers and opinions have been thoroughly read and evaluated. The COVID-19 pandemic and its worldwide impact (including our business) have also influenced our IADS simulation development plans. Nevertheless, in the last couple of months, we've been working closely with the ED team on this module's possibilities and features, which we would like to share with you. Please understand that nothing is final yet – everything that follows is not a promise or obligation in any way and is subject to change at any moment. What we can tell you so far is that the IADS simulation module will include some of the following features, all part of the DCS core: Addition of IADS building tools to the Mission Editor IADS generator (automatic and manual) Logistics component (replenishment of fuel and ammunition) New unit templates New types of trigger zones: Lines (borders), Circles (including lower/upper altitude boundaries), Polygons (including lower/upper altitude boundaries) New drawing tools Following features will be part of the IADS module itself: Recon information processing – ELINT, SIGINT, COMINT Real-time telemetry with realistic delays Mission Editor enhanced functions: Radar coverage computation and display Radar placement recommendation (depending on the type) Definition and prioritization of defended objects Anticipated air attack directions No-fire sectors/areas Global and local control options (role dependent) Advanced AI-assisted Command and Control (based on ROE and pre-set tactics) Multiplayer support – different roles/sectors/areas Electronic Warfare simulation and techniques are currently being evaluated and discussed. It's a very delicate topic – our goal is to simulate the Electronic Warfare arena realistically, which means we have to tread very softly. It is one of the most guarded secrets all around the world. To understand the complex task of simulating a modern multi-layered and integrated air defense, please check out the following article, written by Maj. Peter W. Mattes, USAF. https://www.airforcemag.com/article/what-is-a-modern-integrated-air-defense-system/ This is all we can tell you for now. Please stay tuned for more news and stay safe! Silver_Dragon Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 I think (personal opinion), some has changed and ED has put all about IADS on the fridge, meanwhile "all plans has subject to change" Enviado desde mi RNE-L21 mediante Tapatalk For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

Even if the only change was to have SAM's flash radar on/off while searching or wait for queueing from EWR or AWACS with radars off, that would massively improve DCS. 2 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

norman99 Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 Honestly, with what the Skynet IADS script can currently do (SAM radars remain off till they shoot, switch off when HARMs inbound, integration with EWR network, control nodes & power sources) we have most of what we need already. I add it to all my missions and it completely transforms them.

I add it to all my missions and it completely transforms them. There was a lot more functionality supposedly coming with the IADS module, not just basic IADS functionality. Skynet is more limited in that it has confined to what DCS can currently do - the IADS module was supposedly going to expand on that. Things like: Improved trigger zones (including boundaries and polygons, including altitude limits) Ambiguous RADAR contacts (which may imply updated IFF modelling and updating the AI such that it can more realistically classify contacts) Enhanced mission editor tools (such as RADAR LOS visualisation. Basic EW modelling (though more advanced than the current system - whereby most jammers just reduce the lock & launch range by some %, and the F-16 and F/A-18 are able to emulate track breaking techniques). ED Team NineLine Posted April 28, 2022 ED Team Posted April 28, 2022 Current plans from the team are on hold, I don't have any info beyond that. The threads were simple hidden for now, and can be reopened if/when things change. In the mean time we are looking at other options for IADS and DCS World, thanks. 3 4 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
