I'm not in the ecosystem, so I know I'll need at least one base station?  With the price cut, it seems pretty tempting.

One base station will work easily. I switched from the Pimax 8kx and I am so much happier. Everything just works without complications in MT and the DFR is amazing.

Hi. When using DLSS and eyetracing I get text in the lower left view that follows my eyes. It's really annoying. The text states something about rendering and resolution. About 4 lines of text. Annyone know how to remove this?

Edit: The text is also visible on the 2D screen/image, you can see the text in the bottom left. I'm currently not using any mods.

Thanks!Screen_231029_180454.png

The screenshot shows autoexposure: OFF in the bottom left, that option is not present in DCS setting.  So you may be using a 3rd party mod with postprocessing ability and on-screen overlay, just have to turn off that overlay somehow.

I just ordered the Aero.  Now I'll scan eBay for a used base station.  I presume a gen 1 or 2, doesn't matter?

Go Gen 2 if you can get one. Index base station is the best.

Are you in the states?

I think, especially if you only buy 1, to go Gen 2. Read a bit here - https://forum.htc.com/topic/7656-10-vs-20-base-stations-whats-the-real-difference/

I got a new one from Varjo with my Aero order, a second (for a bit less) direct from Steam..

My new computer is arriving shortly (4090, i9-14900KF) and I will be setting it up with the Varjo Aero. I have been reading the opening message to this thread and I will be using the option listed as:

"How to: DCS multi-threaded via Varjo OpenXR”

One question:

I understand that using mbucchia’s Varjo Foveated mod will give me Foveated Rendering but if I do not use it (if I just use DCS MT exe with default Varjo OpenXR) will everything function properly (i.e. no quad view issues or cursor problems etc.)? … Or do I need to use the mod to get rid of any possible functionality problems as well as getting Foveated rendering?

Thanks

Tbh, there's no reason why you wouldn't use Varjo Foveated. Or Quad views foveated, albeit it has some issues with the Varjo headsets and losing eyes tracking.

It's not that it won't work, but it provides a significant performance boost.  Right now that's the only 3rd party 'vr' app/mod I run with the aero. It's set and forget.

It can work right out of the box without any mods or command lines, but you have to use Steam OpenXR instead of Varjo OpenXR.  Steam OpenXR currently does not support Varjo quadview or eyetracking so you will lose those benefits.  On the other hand, Steam will convert the default quadview output from DCS (which does not work correctly unless you use mbucchia’s mod) into working stereoview without the need for mod or command line; and Steam overlay can also be quite useful allowing you to place a desktop window within DCS (discord, pdf viewer, etc.), or run concurrent SteamVR apps with DCS (for example, fpsVR).

I would keep it simple, Latest Varjo Base (3.10.3.3 - shows up in Programs and Files as 3.10.3.25), Varjo Foveated (https://github.com/mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated) . and the Varjo Optical Adjustment bat file.

just awaiting the shipment confirmation for my new Aero.  hopefully have it before the Thanksgiving break.  (been reading through this thread, quite a transformation as time marched on.  glad to see all of the progress).

I was also probably going to pull the trigger on a new Index base station via Steam.  Just run with one, if I have any issues, then I'll buy a second via eBay.

If primarily doing flying/racing sims I think 1 will suffice, placing it in front-above your face. also recommend (especially with 1 Steam BS) XRNecksafer to amplify your head movement (very similar to TrackIR in 2D) unless you have a neck like an owl. You can check 6 and still not lose lighthouse tracking..

I haven’t downloaded XRNecksafer yet. With the latest updates does everything seem to be operating correctly within the Aero?

To be honest I have only used it in IL-2 since rebuilding my system, in there it works flawlessly, will try DCS soon.

I'm hearing different things about the wait, depending on where you are and who you got it from. I bought direct from Varjo and had it 9 days after ordering, but I am in the EU..
