The maps performance with the update is still bad and in fact worse than before this release.

We have been running a SA TTi all week with what many described as decent performance across many systems and none VR and VR.

This included high alt runs to low alt helo ops from the Punta Arenas TTi main airfield.

With the new patch last night we were all getting about a 20-50% frame rate loss down low around the Punta Arenas area, helicopter missions were mostly unplayable, at one point my 13900K and 4090 tanked to around 16-22 FPS, the night before same mission it was around 39-45 FPS.

The update has decreased performance in this map now around the main towns on the mainland.

The Falklands were ok though and Mount Pleasant and Port Stanly were really good.

Unfortunately, I regret to confirm this 😞. I expected this big update to finally bring a significant improvement in performance and finally good FPS. I launched the map yesterday  flew SA342 over my favorite (for tests) Ushuaia airport (city), as well as over a dense forest - it's very weak and no any improvements here again, I feel like it's even worse than it was before the current patch.

Clearly the authors of SA ma have a serious perfomance problem here - which, I have no idea about. After all, the Sinai map just came out and even over Cairo (where there are thousands of buildings and tens of thousands of vegetation) I have more FPS above the ground than here near small city. It's unbelievable downright.

I'm honestly not interested in new objects or additions for SA, they should solve this basic performance problem and make this map usable like Sinai and Syria e.g.

Yes. It´s the point.

Did a test today all in VR, single helo down low in Ushuaia (the new area with better optimization) fly from the helo port across the new town, which does look amazing, FPS sat at around 26-40 depending on which part of town you were over, mostly the FPS went up as you left and hit the country.

Id still consider this unplayable as no AI unit were on the map, as soon as AI gets added in its going be really bad.

On Caucus, Syria, Saini I'm getting mid to late 60s with these settings

Unstable FPS means slide show 😁. Really, we don't have London here for it to work like that (btw. over even London I have 46-58 fps without reprojection) and it is currently the most demanding city of all DCS maps. I hope that the authors will give up on adding anything new here for now and work on optimizing to double the number of FPS. The problem is buildings and big forests. Outside of this area everything works fine.

I posted on Razbam Discord about it but no one from Razbam replied.

I read the release notes as I thought they had said there were optimizations' to the map, but I was incorrect, all it says is they are adding in more items to make it looked lived in

Obviously this has been at the cost of  a major performance degradation now the new items are in the map, id rather have the pre patch map, at least I could play it with decent VR frame rates

After the 22.02 update (2.9.3.51704 ) the whole DCS recived big BOOST for VR (due terrain streaming perhaps), its confirmed by many people. I can use even Marianas map (Guam!) which was previously simply unplayable for me in VR.

I checked SA map again (RTX 4090, i9 13900K), and still its a problem of FPS and performance - and still its a vegation FPS issue on this map. To show it I did video, recorded direct from VR google (Quest, 72Hz, ASW off means 72FPS is a target). Currently I have absolutely no problems on any map except SA, so maps like Syria, Sinai, PG, Channel, Normandy (except maybe London and surrounding areas but we don't want to compare the forest only to buildings and the capital ok UK, do we? 😄) no any issue like this.

The FPS issue in SA map is still present and not solved even after this patch.

The test to show the problem for you was done on random area with .... forest only, the same on Caucasus map. On SA map is only good at high altitudes, there's still a big stutter near the ground due vegetation issue if the area happens to contain vegetation. I have been writing about this for a long time, giving many examples, but it has not yet been touched and fixed.

In the video you can see problems with Razbam SA maps (vegetation). Worse time (17.1 vs 13.4 which gives cod efficiency by 27% compared to the Caucasus map, over a similar area), also more stutter - SA map FPS jumps from 72 to 54 FPS (visible stutter), Caucasus stable 72 FPS all the time.

Also, you can check the location and the track (video was did on L-39, you need this module + SA map).

DCS settings - nothing exaggerated"

Request to solve this problem.

Finally! My post is here, of course, I tested it in VR, so I can confirm it, there is clear progress and I can finally see the increase in FPS so good that the map has become usable for me 💓. After so many years, finally! I'd like to fly here again in some time, I'm glad that you managed to significantly improve the performance. It's still not the performance of the Caucasus, but it's finally ok! Great job and thanks!

Recently, I've been flying around the SA map a bit. I have to admit that the map has gained a completely new life 👍. Not only does it look much better than before, it has also gained a lot in performance, even in places I've always tested. It took a while, but now I have to admit that the map has made a lot of progress and I can definitely recommend it. It took some time :). It's just a shame that so far the map hasn't been used in any campaigns... maybe now that the map has gained a state that would be great at the beginning, something will finally start happening here.

I hope so too, especially with the upcoming update.

After all this time, there's still hardly any content for SA 😢

Do you not have an FPS drop at low altitude?

Massive improvements on this map can take off fly around and a constant beautiful 45fps then after a while as soon as I drop below 1400ft half frames still 25fps stutter, its so frustrating.
