Yeah... for years I've been avoiding to show this to people that are new to DCS because they would not understand how I can love an ultrarealistic flight sim that looks that way at night. To be honest I made myself believe that this has already been solved and your thread opens wounds again.

Agree, it’s a low point of DCS, so for my night time missions I use a Mod’s objects to add lighting to my airbases:
