3. Cockpit lighting brightness knobs that work (instead of on/off)
Not currently possible due to technological limitations of the virtual cockpit.

4. A difficulty option to start either cold 20 minutes before take off or as current
Not currently possible by design.

8. A proper flight briefing environment like F4.0
Not sure what you're asking for exactly, but it sounds like it belongs in the wishlist rather than a patch fix list.

10. Network GUI menu resolution setting
Not currently possible due to technological limitations of the current MP GUI (running on a different code base form the SP GUI).

I'm sure it's prolly outside the patch, but I'll chime in about the briefing issue.

For me at 2560x1600 the briefing map is obscure and quite small. No way to pour over terrain and examine the map in detail, unless I'm really missing something. A zoom feature and full topo relief on the briefing maps would add some realism, and make things easier. Some scalablity for different resoultions in the briefing would be nice too.

That said, the stability of the first release and the many features are impressive.

i think as a first step it would be good, if you can add more than 1 picture for MP missions - so the mission creator can add different levels of zoom, from different target areas etc, recon pictures etc.

it's possible for SP campaigns, but not for MP missions...

the falcon missionbriefing was very nice, but almost too much of it - because you could zoom on every position on the whole map and were able to see single units almost in realtime, exact positions, formations, elevation etc.

sure it's possible to overwiev certain areas in realtime by drones and satelites, but not the whole battlefield with a almost "magic eye". i don't think that realtime pilots have that many detailed informations and options before a mission... general overwiev of terrain, known and estimted threads, different vectors, ROEs, stuff like this.

and this could be done with the possibility to add up to 10 pictures per mission. really nice would be to have different text attached to each picture, instead of 1 text for all the pictures - 1st page general briefing and overwiev, switching to the next picture brings new text with details for it... just a "comfort" function, but i'd like it :)

EvilBivol correctly points out that a better pre-flight environment is certainly a "wish list" item and not a "bug fix" item.

Falcon's briefing screen is really nice. The unit positions are of course only as good as the intel which was often incomplete or out of date. The level of intel was often a bit much but that would be easily fixed. The 3D terrain view, while realistic to have at their disposal, is also a distraction from the meat and potatos.

I mean there's better learning what the mission is going to be with a map and flight plan and then there's planning the mission in a non-passive sense.

The Black Shark "F10" map screen, before you loaded into the cockpit with the ability to change waypoints, target points, INU fixpoints, altitudes, times, speeds, fuel, cannon load, munitions load, ADF channels, VHF1 channels, flare/dipole load, etc.

Is sound bug being addressed?

You know, go to outside view and back then engine sound be quiet, and Esc and back, engine sound becomes loud, then if I rearm and take off, it now almost goes out even if I Esc and back.

Also an option for the AI to shut engines down once they park.

and if you listen to the C130 and awac planes u here the engine sounds at front of plane but when u go to the back nothing. :pilotfly: :joystick:

Forgot to mention improved multi monitor support where you can configure individual displays in the GUI. Hopefully some kind of Vista multi monitor support without having to experiment and edit config files.

For the moment the patch is bug-fixing oriented. However, there are some new extra features, some of them pretty neat ;)

Any ideas on patch release date, or an official announcment of content?

I personally would like the encyclapedia (wow that's a spelling and a half!) to be more like the LO one as this one seems to be missing things and doesn't seem to have it displayed in a way as easy to use as LO did.

Other minor bugs are the phasing sound, the strange light line out of the windows that are especially noticable in night missions.

I get a few other odd behaviors that are problems but because the game is so complex I don't know if it's a bug or an "in game problem".

Still to be honest, it's an amazing game/sim!

A dedicated server would be most welcome! I can't leave my main rig running DCS:BS all day (unfortunately :D ), and my actual server is hardly a gaming system.

Best regards,

Tango.

I have this weird Light line that moves with my head.. seems to pivot off the nose and go off in both directions. Cuts off my rotor shadows and stuff off the ground. (Nvidia Geforce 7950 with latest drivers). Also have huge performance spikes going to reformat my pc and see if it helps(it's due for a reinstall anyways).

Will the IFF be somehow modeled in the new patch so that we can properly determine if the armoured vehicles we are shooting at are friendly. That would be a nice feature. Alot of the multiplayer missions have the same vehicles on both sides so it is impossible to determine if the vehicles are friendly or enemy

Since the real thing doesn't have this capability, I can assure you it will not appear in the game.

No way to IFF with optical system unless you recognize the vehicle yourself. SA is your friend on the battlefield, you should know your forces and enemies position.

My Biggest Concern

I know, I know, this was never intended as a wishlist thread, but anyway here is my #1 wish...

better XP multicore support

Even the slightest improvement in multicore performance on XP would help me (and I presume many others) tremendously. Right now, I can only fly with haze switched off.

Thread is a question, not wishlist thread.

Post wishes in the wish-list. Thanks!
