Only play the game in VR so don't know if this is relevant to 2D mode or not, but I have found since 'upgrading' to Win 11 that my load times have lengthened considerably. Anyone notice this or is there something I need to do to mitigate it - or is it to do with DCS?

i  have been playing in VR in W11 since launch and my load time havent changed, but do check that VBS is switched off as that can do some nasty things to perf:

Ah thanks ... yes it already seems to be disabled anyway.

I upgraded to Win 11 some time ago and do not recall noticing a big change in load time either way really.

I know first load up of the day can be rather lengthy, after that subsequent loads of the day can be little quicker.

I'm debating whether or not to go to 11 when I do this next upgrade, or trying to stick with 10. The evil I know, and what have you.

I do see an increase in load time since the last OB update.  At game startup as well as mission loading.

try deleting your metashader2 and fxo folders in your saved games dcs folder.
Then load a single player session in VR, note it will take longer first time as it is recreating the shaders.

After the initial load re-test and see if you notice a difference.

Oddly enough I never have any Metashaders 2 files to delete in that folder, it is always empty and it has been for quite a while - even through a couple of long repairs with Skate's app. I do delete the fxo folder on occasion, usually when getting a game update.

Already did it and load times were still longer.  Yesterday's OB update (DCS 2.7.18.30348) seems to bring back load times to what is was before DCS 2.7.17.29493.  I also noticed 0.5 FPS improvement running my test track file (Caucasus with F-18).  Not much but it allows to crank a setting up!  Increase in performance is always appreciated, thanks!

I confirm on longer loading times also, already noticable since the previous update, not only since the last one.
(info fxo and metashaders2 folders are flushed after each update (if i don't forget), metashaders2 in general is just empty but since the day before yesterday, a dozen or so files reside there at the moment).

Win 11 did have a couple of months more to mature.

What is the latest, W10 or W11?  I only do VR gaming, DCS open beta, Asetto corsa and maybe a little FS2020.

Doing an upgrade with new install tomorrow. (13900KF, 4090.)

I have a hard time deciding, but for now it leans towards W10.

22H2 has some gaming performance issue that just got resolved, at least for me with patch KB5020044.  If you go Win11, make sure it is fully up to date.  From an OS perspective only, I find Win11 more efficient and slick.  I did struggle at first finding some stuff but now quite happy.
