A list of several Tomcat specific callsigns is planned already and in the works with ED. IIRC Ghostrider is one of them.

That's wonderful. I did take a peek in F14B.lua and GhostRider isn't in there so I hope it can get added when you finish the Tomcat. Thanks @IronMike

Not only Tomcat,

dcs lack too many callsign types!

I miss many call signs like Gypsy, Cowboy, Banshee something something-s- 😪

And Personally,

I wish another Jester Voice DLC

It's easy to add them (by editing the aircraft.lua) but the problem is that ED encrypted the audio snippets that are used to compose sentences from tiny pre-recorded snippets - if we were allowed to decrypt or encrypt our own we could record our own voices for AI and Pilot and also have voices say the new Callsigns. I hope, one day, that the Mission Editor expands to allow this.

Thank you.

"Negative Enfield, the pattern is full" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

This is unfortunately not going to happen. 11.000 voice calls to re-record ... is about 3 years of work. Both financially and timewise this is not possible, which is why the F4 will also have the same voice. And it would not only mean re-recording, but recreating a new personality, new jokes, a new emotional spectrum, etc etc... Sorry to disappoint here.

Is there likely to be any new l audio in the upcoming F-4 Jester?

Any chance of exposing those for modding (say, a menu option for a custom voice)? I know it's not feasible for you to design and record another Jester, but I'm pretty sure there are some community members crazy enough to do it on their own. 🙂

I seriously doubt that. I mean, it is really hard to imagine how much work it would mean to replace that, especially if you are not trained, it would prolly take four to five years, and you couldnt just make a part of it, or the code would break. But it is all in there, in the sounds folder, the voice files and the sdefs. If someones feels like doing that, by all means, knock yourselves out. Mods are generally awesome, but this task is likely a bit beyond what modders can or should invest in terms of free time. Plus you'd need someone who knows at least basic acting, and someone who knows how to direct to match the jokes, emotions, feel, etc, or it would sound very jarred very quick... To give you an idea, when we started with this I had 5+ years directing experience in various theatres, 10+ years acting experience, 5+ years coaching experience for actors, 20 years experience writing and translating literature, Grayson had prolly 10+ years voice acting experience, etc. The balancing act was not only to write and record Jester, but to write and record him so that he has a range of emotions, which when arbitrarily mixed together, still don't jarr. And that's basically all in my head, and difficult to share. Foks who can do that, cost also a lot of money, and from experience would not sign up for a project like that for nothing, probably not even as die hard DCS fans, much less even when not being a DCS fan at all.

I've seen projects on that scale done, even been part of some, way back when I was modding other games. Obviously, this is a single character, so one person would be doing all the talking (mastering the samples is the only thing that could be handed off), but with enough skill, passion and stubbornness dedication, it can be done. 🙂 There's quite a few people in this community who can act, at least judging by the voice quality in many of the better campaigns.

Like I said, we always support mods. It's just a fair warning, that without professional help, one could potentially chew off more than they can bite, and waste a whole lot of time that in the end yields no finished product. (There's btw a big difference between recording a few voice lines and keeping consistency and staying within character for 3+ years ... that does also require professional experience both in directing and acting.) There are enormous mod projects out there, for sure, and with the right dedication (and or money), everything can be done. But hands on heart, if someone approached me say "would you direct a Jester voice mod", my answer would be a clear no. Because a) no time and b) I would not want to ask a modding community the kind of money I would expect for something like this normally. But like I said, one never knows, and maybe we get lucky. I've been myself dreaming of different Jesters since we started, but for us it is just not feasible unfortunately. 🙂

Don't forget Voodoo!

It would also be cool to have Navy tactical callsigns.  For instance, they are Enfield 11 when out in the mission amongst other NATO assets but back at the boat in the pattern they are Victory 103 or Fast Eagle 107 (squadron tac callsign + modex/side number).

Personally, I would love if DCS had a callsign creation utility like EditVoicePack for FSX.

I’d love if DCS was receptive to ANY user created improvements.
