While reading all this ... are we talking abaout the AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN pod mentioned in the manuals but not available on the weapons page in mission editor? Is there a target release date?

LANTIRN is not planned, the current pod we have is a hybrid between the LANTIRN and LIGHTNING, it will be replaced with the Sniper once it is complete and the manual will be updated.

Is making an accurate LANTIRN no longer the case after the addition of Sniper?

DCS F16 has been put on ice... It has been 6 years now and we still don't have PRF tones or the sniper along with other features!

As far as I know, but work has not started on it, so I don't want to count our TGPs until they are hatched.

It has not been put on ice, sadly, some things like programming an entirely new TGP take some time. If the OP of that comment looks at the changelog since 2019 he will see plenty of fixes and updates to the Viper.

I just interpreted that myself as "We're developing Sniper and then we'll consider potentially making LANTIRN"

Right now, our entire focus is on the Sniper, while we would like to do another pod, it will just depend on time and resources.

We are, but it takes time money and effort. When we are ready we will deliver but you will have to continue to be patient.

So then this statement from your other post no longer holds true? Cause from my understanding is that we would end up with both lantirn and sniper at the end and not a "it will just depend on time and resources" type thing.

As I said, we are focused on the Sniper right now, we will see when that is done what will be next, thanks.

Does anybody know if the new sniper pod will have new flight and drag characteristics? As it is a lot more aerodynamic in shape and a bit lighter from the litening one i think. It would make sense to add less drag when equiped in relation to the litening

Testing on the AN/AAQ-33 Advanced Targeting Pod is going well, as soon as we can share more news we will. Of course Q2 is our plan but if we need more time we will take it. 

Wags is also planning a video for its release.

What I really like about today's Changelog is a few comments on various topics (not just about Sniper). This kind of communication is exactly what's needed . We have an outline, we have an approximate time, and we have what they are working on. A fragment about Sniper (good move ED!):

NOTE: AN/ASP-33 Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) Update: Although our hope and intention was to release this new targeting pod for the Viper by the end of Quarter 2 of 2025, it requires a bit more time in testing to ensure a quality release that will include new features like Multi-Target Tracking (MTT), Picture-in-Picture that combines the infrared and TV cameras, Extended Range (XR) functions, and more. This targeting pod is planned for release in summer 2025.
