remove mods Could use a bit of help with comms menu

Can't seem to bring it up regardless of aircraft, so Ill just stick to one I know how to do it normally. Its been a few months since I last flew, so a few updates have passed since then..

In the F-18, I select Comms 1 or 2, proper channel selected, no communications menu pops up. The \ key doesnt bring up any menus either, they just disappeared. I have these keys mapped properly, and cant even get it to work even with the canopy open. Whats the deal? It has to be a 2nd party thing Im using. I have Voice Attack, rarely use it, but I have Disable Menus tickbox unticked so I dont know what the problem could be.

I reverted to 2.8.1.34437@openbeta and it worked again for me

Just stumbled over most recent update 2.8.1.34667.2 ...

Problem seems solved

My squadron mates are having the same issue since 2.7 and it happened again to me tonight on the latest openbeta. Regardless of module. Usually happens after a change of slot but not always. The keyboard will bring up the menu, but the bound joystick button will not; it WILL activate the ingame radio (i.e. show the upside down triangle in the Hornets UFC) but no on-screen Radio Menu is displayed. It's intermittent, but never comes back to the player once it's gone until they restart DCS

either. seems like every time I do a repair, some UI folders get rebuilt and scripts keep getting introduced that keeps me from using the comms menu. I disabled SRS and Voice Attack...odd that I dont even use them often and they shouldnt even be causing conflict yet here I am...I think voice attack might be installing scripts regardless of my options ticked in the box.

strange  you havnt  got easy comms  checked  by  any chance

nope. triple checked, also triple checked the tick box in VA to see  if by chance it was...and nope, not ticked. every time I open up VA it installs those files regardless. Fairly certain now its not SRS.

ok  another  thing  it  could  be  but  not  likely  since it  happened  to me  awhile  ago  had  same  issues  the /  wasn't  working,  found  some  how  i manged  to  change  my  key board profile to  united  states  which  when i pressed  the  /  key it  was  actually  pressing  the !   key on  my  key board.  Took me  a few minutes  to work  that  one  out.

Easy to check: @Hammer1-1, when in the Controls options, go to categoy "All But Axis Commands", then press "\". Does it lead you to the "COMM Communication menu" command?

well I have it working..unfortunately that sacrificed VA. Its funny because this was never a problem before..

This an odd one. I actually use VA to call some Comms menu actions, so I can’t imagine what could be causing your issue.

I have to rebind the "\" key, and when I do it is bound to "OEM102" (UK Keyboard)

This rings a bell. Try the community VA. It's 2.8 compatible.

Ill give it a shot...from the looks of it, might be uninstalling and reinstalling - playing that game. Ill report back when I get it installed and tested.

Well, that worked. Comms menu working again with Voice Attack and Vaicom Pro...had no idea they went open source with it. Was wondering why I havent seen an update for it in a while, but yeah that worked!

Great news!

FYI, VAICOM pro had became an abandonware for some time. But when 2.8 "broke" it, several members of the DCS community asked the creator to  make his product open source. He did, and that's how  a new  "community"  version was made to fix 2.8 incompatibility.
