fixed LOD artifact floating above aircraft

I have some parked AI here and at a certain distance/fov combination there's this weird artifact floating about 100' above the aircraft. I can't ID what it is as it disappears when I zoom in.

(Track: spawn in P-47 at High Halden, position on end of runway near parked Mustangs)

That's the tail wheel of the P-51.
