Willie Nelson Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 When I’ve used DLSS in that other civvy sim, instruments and other items look pretty ordinary. Maybe this will be different. 3 i7700k OC to 4.8GHz with Noctua NH-U14S (fan) with AORUS RTX2080ti 11GB Waterforce. 32GDDR, Warthog HOTAS and Saitek rudders. HP Reverb.
Germane Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I can olny speak of 2D and not VR but usually DLSS increase the Image quality...depending on the selected mode 1

Maybe this will be different. I'm using DLSS at "Performance" setting In MSFS with Reverb G2. The trick is to set the rendering resolution even higher than the 100% resolution of the G2 (which is around 3100x3100), so try to set it to 3500x3500, or even to 4000x4000 to se wonders. If you thought before that the G2 is super crisp then multiply it by 1,5. This is what you'll get at decent framerates. So if DLSS will come to DCS then this alone combined with multithreading should indeed yield enormous change for the image quality in VR. 3 PC: 14700K | Gigabyte Z790 | Palit 3090 GamingPro | 32GB | Win10 Pro HMD: HP Reverb G2 | OpenXR @ 150% | DCS 2.9: PD: 1.0, DLSS 4 Profile "K" / "Performance" with Sharpening 1 Controllers: VKB Gunfighter MkIII base & 200 mm curved extension center mounted + TM F16 Grip / MCG Pro Grip | TM TFRP

Dragon1-1 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 I'd love to know about that, too. Modern jets and especially helicopters, which are coming to DCS in increasing numbers. While I can accept that when a jet is hit, it'll usually be going down anyway, given it'll usually be hit at least by multiple 20mm rounds or a missile, the helos are routinely exposed to rifle-caliber ground fire, HMGs and smaller SAMs. With no ejection system (except on the Ka-50), realistic damage modeling becomes more important.

Since DCS is completely aliased in VR, even with MSAA 4x, DLSS may enhance the image quality. AFAIK DLSS uses motion vector like TAA so it would be easier to implement TAA along DLSS 1 Ryzen 3700x - 2080ti - 16GB 3200 - 500G SSD - OCULUS RIFT S
javipamp Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Really happy to know that ED is improving the core of the simulator. Let's see if we can see the multithreading and dlss in the first quarter 2023 and not in 2024 or 25. Keep pushing the VR!! I will buy more planes and sceneries when I see the improvements. That's why I told that 100% resolution in OpenXR is also 3100x3100, but with DLSS you can "easily" set the target resolution to even higher than that, even to 4000x4000 to get extremely crisp visuals on the cockpit gauges at playable framerates. Sounds crazy, but working - at least for me. 2 1 PC: 14700K | Gigabyte Z790 | Palit 3090 GamingPro | 32GB | Win10 Pro HMD: HP Reverb G2 | OpenXR @ 150% | DCS 2.9: PD: 1.0, DLSS 4 Profile "K" / "Performance" with Sharpening 1 Controllers: VKB Gunfighter MkIII base & 200 mm curved extension center mounted + TM F16 Grip / MCG Pro Grip | TM TFRP

I prefer the native high panel resolution (like AERO with 2880x2720 per eye) over any artificial upscaling either in hw or sw, I tend to notice too much smearing in the final image, it could be a psychological problem.. 1
Germane Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 It all sounds really great! The only topic that is missing is the rework of AAR. 3

Well personally I could add a lot more but I will keep it to your wingman talking nonstop calling out targets up to 170 miles (in F16!). My pet peeve nr One. 2
