VampireNZ Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Weapons can be released regardless of the state of the Weapons Release Button Safety Cover on the cyclic. So with the safety cover in the closed position, somehow the button can still be pressed and weapons fired. Vampire
AeriaGloria Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Pretty sure Mi-8 is sane. Since it’s same team, I’m not surprised Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
randomTOTEN Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 (edited) I believe it's intentional. As @AeriaGloria says the Hip behaves the same. What I think is missing is the animation of the cap lifting while pressing weapon release. I believe it only lifts when the weapon system is otherwise configured correctly. randomTOTEN Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) They way it works in the Hip is different, and my desire is to repeat that for the Hind. You can bind the weapon safety, and it functions with the associated animation. Upon lifting the safety (either with the bind, key combo, or mouse click) the weapon release button is revealed, and activating the weapon release button will animate it and fire weapons. If the weapon system isn't correctly configured, the button animation still works, but no weapons fire. If you don't want to use the safety cover, you can leave it closed and unbound. With the weapons system ready to fire (everything except the cover), pressing the weapon release button (which is hidden and protected by the cover) an animation shows the safety cover lift, the button pressed, and the weapons will fire. Upon releasing the weapon release command, but button pops out, and the safety cover automatically closes. If the weapon system is otherwise not correctly configured, pressing the weapon release has no effect whatsoever. Edited June 5, 2023 by randomTOTEN
Flappie Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 A fix for the Mi-24 safety cover is in the making. I asked for the special option the AH-64 already has. 2 ---
Flappie Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 Yes, indeed. Now, the cover will be lifted automatically when opening fire. The special option has not been added yet. ---

The Hind now appears to be double launching R60's far more frequently just to let you know. I believe the listed fix was related to this. I'd only seen it happen once or twice before, now seems to be happening all the time.

Flappie Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 (edited) Yep, I got you. I've just asked for a quick merge of the fix. Edited July 24, 2023 by Flappie 1 ---
randomTOTEN Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I don't know why we had to change this from the system that worked wonderfully for years in the Hip. Any chance we can have that same functionality as an option? 1
