Hi, we have to continue to use the --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR parameter to have the native openxr ?

Yes. That's in the MT FAQ. Works also. Apache with Textures high is also a No Go.

Today's update with MT is absolutely incredible, spent most of the day flying and loving my new found  performance in my Varjo Aero. Well done ED!

Oh typical, I’m indulging in my other hobby at the mo (see profile pic) and this is when MT drops!?!? How dare you ED!!! …

…Only joking 😄

Well played and thank you ED!

It must have been a metric butt tonne of work. Can’t wait to try it out, once I’ve just got a few more space marines painted.

Was hoping for good things but no noticeable change with 5800x3d and AMD 6800 with G2 using OpenXR. Load times seem faster and the interior on the hanger on the menu page is noticeably red but that's about it. Still a lot of ground micro stutter when looking out the side of the aircraft on all maps and Marianas nearly unplayable I think maybe even slightly worse. FPS unchanged. Am probably GPU bound but was hoping for less stutter at least.

You're likely GPU bound for which CPU/Mt isn't going to do much.

You could try drop settings until you're CPU bound then try same settings in non-MT build and compare performance.

For me the openxr toolkit not work on dcs mt with g2... Someone can confirm?

What is your definition of wont work? I can access the open toolkit in game and for example turn on the fps counter just fine with mt and a g2

Dcs crash, when i disable open xr tool dcs start normally

You use open composite or native openxr?

Same for me, with Varjo Aero and native openxr

DCS crashes either in loading screen or in the menu if I have OpenXR ToolKit enabled.

Tomorrow i try with open composite 🤞

significant CPU boost in my favourite CPU_Test mission, i.e. FW190A, Normandy Quick Action, Airfield attack - just before attack

well done!

Just read on discord that someone fixed this issue with a reset of their openxr toolkit settings. Going to give that a shot tomorrow 🙂

Best thing is, we also will get DLSS and Vulkan on top of MT...

Just want to show the difference between  Multi-threading On vs off in terms of FPS and CPU Load

System win 11 AMD ryzen 75800x3D Nvidia 4090

Same track replay with and without MT

·         Blue track is FPS with MT

·         Yellow track is CPU Frame time with MT on

·         Orange is FPS without MT

·         Gray is CPU Frame time with MT OFF

Conclusion:

In my system MT dos not help in getting higher FPS since I am GPU bound most of the time.

But if you look at the CPU frame time you can se a clear difference, the frame time is significant lower with MT on.

So, systems with CPU limitations will benefit from MT.

One thing I have noticed with MT on is that the graphical quality seems to suffer, and introduce shimmering

I'm on 10: highly optimized. I clearly do notice a significant boost. How do you come to this conclusion?

a friend of mine said something...but i'm not so sure that he was correct. he read somewhere about the cpu scheduler in windows 11 being better than windows 10

DCS Shortcut used for clarity
"D:\DCS World OpenBeta\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR

Regarding M/T I saw no improvement, same FPS in all my test missions, HT is enabled in my BIOS, disabling it makes no difference

G2 with 4090 64gb 3500 DDR4, 13700K

Instant action/Syria/F18 - Free flight 57-60FPS
Instant action/Caucus/Apache- Ready on the range 57/60

All my settings the same prior to the update, both missions sit at 55-60 FPS which is the same as post patch
Enabling the shadows I now lose only 1-2 FPS, but the game looks heaps better.

DCS FPS counter says I'm CPU bound.

OpenXR Toolkit was reporting CPU 5.6/GPU 15.8

Next I changed my OpenXR Toolkit settings Upscaling/Sharping from CAS to NIS (CAS look sharper to me so I lost some clarity)
Scaling 85%
Sharpness 65%

OpenXR now reports CPU 5.8/GPU 13.2 and I saw an a FPS jump to 65-70

Using the Plazma torture test mission I can sit at 70+ FPS now CPU 5.7/GPU 11.8 (mission linked here)

As soon as the CBUs drop it goes down to 30-35 FPS, o
nce that clears its back to 66+

The Plasma torture test simulates a heavily populated MP server you fly an F16 straight through the action and watch the FPS, its a great test mission tweaking settings for online game play, use the editor to change to the plane you want.

My conclusion is not much change at all until changed OpenXR Toolkit from CAS to NIS so the FPS boost was controlled by openXR settings.

Im now able to run the shadows again but this was a bug that was fixed.

4090 + 5800x3D user - did not notice any performance difference in single-player. Did not tried MP yet - it should be the place of most (positive) impact of the patch. However I did notice something surprisingly odd: took a ride in my test mission on Syria starting at 35k near Israel - cities seem to be more detailed at that altitude than it used to be before. I mean city at 35k is no longer uniform flat grayish mess, but somewhat similar to city with blocks of buildings. Not sure if they adjusted LODs for terrain or it is my Friday's pint... I did not tried any other map/location so far. Did anyone notice any visual difference in terms of LODs at high altitude?

Yeah the Team deserves a couple of Lockheed Martin C-5M Super Galaxys fully loaded with Kudos containers. I suspect it is not just MT implementation: there has been so much more,  single-threaded seems also faster. I imagine a lot of performance optimization changes went under the radar.

How did you measure? You will not see fps increases, but both CPU and GPU frame times, performance headroom, and stutter reduction are massively improved. It is just so much better. I did not notice any degradation in LOD and viewing distances. It is almost dumbfounding you cannot notice the improvements. Did you start the DCS.exe from the Bin-MT folder?

how do you know if MT is enabled in the bios?

You enable Hyper Threading (Intel) SMT (AMD) in your Bios. (Google it)

MT is the multithreading that Ed has actioned
