NO improvement using MT version of DCS

So whats the point of multi threading at all then?  If people are not GPU bound, and not CPU bound?  If I get a new GPU then MT isnt going to help me either because neither will be bottlenecked?  Whats the point?

I think the point is that many of the AI assets, scripts and so forth are heavily reliant on the CPU, so by introducing MT, missions where those elements would usually cause slowdowns etc are significantly improved.

As an example, I have an i9 11900K and a 2080TI, I saw a big increase as DCS took advantage of my CPU better. Now I will start running up against my GPU, but the fact that I get over 100+ easily in most cases puts me in a place I can relax for a while.

Also, if you get a new, more powerful GPU, CPU will also wake up because there's gonna be more stuff to compute. At the moment since your GPU is maxed out, CPU is doing only as much as it needs to keep up in line with your GPU.

Another way to look at it. Your CPU is a personal trainer. CPU went for a run with a fat GPU. It was a walk in a park for your CPU. The next day, same scenario, CPU goes for a run, but this time with a skinny GPU, so it has to give a bit more output to keep up the pace with faster GPU. Makes sense? lol

On my old 3570k with the 1080 I could fly in VR offline well enough with mostly rock stable 45fps in the CV1. Not the ideal 90fps, but it was great still. Going to multiplayer or playing excessively scripted missions would dump me down into the single digits even in pancake, because the CPU just couldn't handle all at the same time - guess there it would alleviate that drop a lot. In other words: I wouldn't expect better fps in rather clean test scenarios at all, but less violent performance drops due to AI or scripts activity or maybe, ideally, none of them at all anymore.

You before MT:

CPU max perf:

xxxx

GPU max perf:

xxx

Total perf:

xxx

After MT:

CPU max perf:

xxxxxxxxxx

GPU max perf:

Total perf:

If you got a new GPU

CPU max perf:

xxxxxxxxxx

GPU max perf:

xxxxxxxxxx

Total perf:

With the new MT update I get the following in VR with Meta Quest 2 using OpenXR and OpenXR Toolkit:

AH-64D Apache on Syria Map:

Before MT: ~41-46 FPS

After MT: ~52-56 FPS

F-14B on Super Carrier Caucasus of the coast of Batumi:

Before MT: ~40-45 FPS

After MT: ~52-56 FPS

F-16 On Caucasus Map:

Before MT: ~44-48 FPS

After MT: ~57-60 FPS
