Chad Vader
I play in 4k, max settings (generally) get 40 ish fps.. With MT I still get 40k ish FPS, so no improvement at all. Working on track files Looking for input. Thanks DxDiag.txt Edited March 10, 2023 by Chad Vader
zildac
Likely based on your spec you are GPU limited. Especially based on max settings at 4K 1 12900KF | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 5200 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero
Chad Vader
Yea my GPU is a bottleneck, was hoping I would see some improvement from MT, but..nothing at all?
Vakarian
Well, yeah. Your GPU is already working as hard as it can. Throwing more stuff at it won't make it run faster
=OPS=Slider
MT is for CPU, not GPU...

ED Team NineLine Posted March 10, 2023 ED Team Share Posted March 10, 2023 Have you thought about coming down from 4K at all? At least to try it. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Chad Vader
I always have issues on my monitor downscaling the resolution to 1440 windowed... I get screen flickering and when i click on my second monitor the monitor refreshes the entire display. I'll give it another whirl though
ED Team NineLine Posted March 10, 2023 ED Team Share Posted March 10, 2023 try going 1440 full screen, see if that helps at all. In your case when DLSS comes out it might help some as well. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Chad Vader
So whats the point of multi threading at all then? If people are not GPU bound, and not CPU bound? If I get a new GPU then MT isnt going to help me either because neither will be bottlenecked? Whats the point?

I think the point is that many of the AI assets, scripts and so forth are heavily reliant on the CPU, so by introducing MT, missions where those elements would usually cause slowdowns etc are significantly improved. As an example, I have an i9 11900K and a 2080TI, I saw a big increase as DCS took advantage of my CPU better. Now I will start running up against my GPU, but the fact that I get over 100+ easily in most cases puts me in a place I can relax for a while. 3 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
=OPS=Slider
Also, if you get a new, more powerful GPU, CPU will also wake up because there's gonna be more stuff to compute. At the moment since your GPU is maxed out, CPU is doing only as much as it needs to keep up in line with your GPU. Another way to look at it. Your CPU is a personal trainer. CPU went for a run with a fat GPU. It was a walk in a park for your CPU. The next day, same scenario, CPU goes for a run, but this time with a skinny GPU, so it has to give a bit more output to keep up the pace with faster GPU. Makes sense? lol
steveman
Fantastic improvement on my old pc. I7 980X . GTX 1070 . RAM GT dominator DDR3......!!!!! From 40-60 FPS to 90-100 FPS Single player. Soft as butter..

On my old 3570k with the 1080 I could fly in VR offline well enough with mostly rock stable 45fps in the CV1. Not the ideal 90fps, but it was great still. Going to multiplayer or playing excessively scripted missions would dump me down into the single digits even in pancake, because the CPU just couldn't handle all at the same time - guess there it would alleviate that drop a lot. In other words: I wouldn't expect better fps in rather clean test scenarios at all, but less violent performance drops due to AI or scripts activity or maybe, ideally, none of them at all anymore.

Tobur
Sadly also no improvement for me. Theoretical 170 fps though.. Time for an update. 5600x with 3070. And I thought I was actually cpu bottlenecked and not gpu..
