miguez Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Howdy, Found threads via the search on this, but they all say that Left or Right modifiers (Ctrl, Shift, Alt) are detected by the latest X52 SST. I have version 6.6.0.38, which is the latest one they have in public beta, which is obtained via the Saitek forum. It doesn't seem to recognize Left or Right modifiers, keys just show as "Shift" or "Ctrl". All assignments with Shift, Ctrl, or Alt do not work in the game, after programming in SST, and I am pretty sure it is because there's no distinction between Left or Right. Any ideas on how to get this to work? Thanks,
Kurtz Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Any ideas on how to get this to work? Thanks, Any key strokes that dont agree with SST software need to be re-assigned within the DCS controller config. Generally if I need a spare key, I just clear one of the view commands and use the emty slot.

Generally if I need a spare key, I just clear one of the view commands and use the emty slot. Hi Kurtz, Thanks for the ideas. The problem is that if I simply assign buttons to actions inside DCS, I lose the Modes feature. With this feature (if you are not familiar with the X52), I can have each button behave in three different ways, a separate keypress for each of those ways. it basically triples the number of buttons you have. Thanks,
CyBerkut Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Latest beta version is 6.6.1.15: http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=16232 It didn't work right for me back when I tried it, so I went back to the latest release version 6.0.10.7. LtFransky Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The new beta release worked really well for me. Uninstall your previous drivers before trying the new ones. miguez Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) The new beta release worked really well for me. Uninstall your previous drivers before trying the new ones. No joy with version 6.0.10.7 either. Should I be seeing any notation that the "Alt" key that shows in the Profile Editor is the Left or Right one? Even without seeing it, it does not work in game. The drivers (6.0.4.1) for both of these versions are the same, they are the latest drivers, so I kept the same driver installed. Edited February 1, 2009 by miguez
CyBerkut Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 In mine, the left Alt and Ctrl keys just show as "Alt" and "Ctrl" respectively. The right counterparts show as "Right Alt" and "Right Ctrl". [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1
EinsteinEP Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Same comment as CyBerkut. Even though the word "left" doesn't appear, it's implied. If it helps, read "alt" as "left alt", "ctrl" as "left ctrl", and "shift" ans "left shift" and you're good. My x52 Pro profile with 6.2.2.4 works just fine with Black Shark, left and right modifiers included. Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.
Ramstein Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Some of you guys are messing up. if you Read the Instructions!.. they say No need to re-install any drivers (as long as you have the latest drivers), only install the NEW Beta SST software... and that will write right over the old SST software... and yes, they do not say left on the left alt, shift, ctrl keys, ... only right alt, shift, ctrl keys.. :joystick: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
bumfire Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 right shift doesnt work for me with sst software, it doesnt even appear when I click on it to make a new binding, e.g if I wanted to make right shift+f for flares, only the f would show up in the sst software and it wouldnt work as intended ingame.
miguez Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) @ Ramstein, Yep, as you can tell from my previous post, I kept the same drivers (I guess you could say I RTFReadme ;)). @ bumfire Which SST software version are your unning? The last two I tried (version numbers mentioned in my previous post) both accept the different modifiers. Still no joy, though, I now see that when I use a Right modifier it does show as "Right Alt" in the Profile Editor, but BS still won't take it. Any other ideas? EDIT: All is working now. I installed 6.0.10.7 yesterday, it didn't work, then today I decided to re-install 6.6.0.38 for the third time, and all of a sudden it is working. Maybe something was up with the Magic Keyboard? That gets re-installed every time I swapped versions... Well, thanks for the help, but unfortunately I can't pinpoint what it is that made it work. Edited February 1, 2009 by miguez Problem is gone
Feuerfalke Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 No need to reinstall drivers, but if you don't close the Saitek-Tools running in the background, you might need to restart to fully benefit from it. Be advised, though, the new version is very instable with 64bit OS, especially with Vista, as the software accesses memory areas, that are not permitted to be used with 64bit. I didn't try the very latest version - hopefully they sorted it out already. miguez Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Hey Ragtag, Hi CyBerkut, Thanks for the tip, I'll try the older one. By the way, the latest is indeed 6.6.0.38. Saitek says 6.6.1.15 on their forum, but after install, check the About on the Control Panel, it will say the number I mentioned. Best regards, I just found out that 6.6.1.15 is what shows in the About from the Profile Editor. In the About from the Control Panel (not the Windows Control Panel, the Game Controller Control Panel which you get to from right clicking on the Saitek icon in the taskbar and chosing Control Panel) it shows as: Driver Version: 6.0.4.1 Software Version: 6.6.0.38 I wonder what that software version refers to...?
Ragtag Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Did you install the software manually by unpacking the file rather than just double click it and let it go auto? It doesn't install the software correctly and has to be done manually. I am using SST 6.0.10.7 and everything works with the exception of the right shift key, I cannot use that at all when programming as it doesnt show up in the boxes when trying to make a new bind and if I continue anyway it doesnt work ingame. example if I want right shift + f for flare etc, ( its a made up key but its just an example), right shift isnt picked up by the sst software and only f shows up and if i continue and save it anyway, ingame when pushing said joystick button, only F would activate instead of right shift + f I think i am gunna have to change sst versions I am using driver = 6.0.4.1 sst = 6.0.10.7

Prophet Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I am using the latest drivers and the latest beta and all of my keys show up properly.
bumfire Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) ok, I have upgraded to : driver: 6.0.4.1 sst: 6.6.0.38 profile editor: 6.6.1.15 and with the 5 - 10 minutes that I have played about with it, everything seems to be working but I will have to go deeper into profile making to make sure as it was just a quick cursory check that I did as I never had much time to mess with it last night. tyhs Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Thanks much...that was quick! I already knew about that sequence. I'm trying to get the X52 PRO up and running on Vista 64-bit and I'm having a documented problem. Everything installed (according to installer) but "Profile Launcher" is non functioning and taskbar icon does not load. Furthermore, profile editor will not load or test profiles. Additionally, the Magic Bus Drivers eventually loaded but in FSX the thumb mouse on the throttle unit is nonfunctioning. Controller works but with no preloaded profile and missing some parts of control panel (dim lights for one). I've actually considered retrofitting the whole setup on my old XP box (but that necessitates another $150 in hardware, minimum, just to see if it will run with acceptable frame rates); the controller loaded and works wonderfully on older simulators. Don't want to return the controller--mostly because I added the extended warranty cheap on an item that is guaranteed to break sooner than later (in my experience). If I hear from Saitek Tech Support or find another solution I'll post it here for posterity.
hitman Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 By any chance, did you change the original USB port your stick was originally installed? If so, the drivers for your joystick may have to be reinstalled...for some reason the drivers cant or wont switch from one usb port to another. Ive noticed this several times.
