What pc specs do you have?

Because, as an example, the settings for a user with a ultra high end pc won't be the best settings for you if you have a medium spec pc and also the other way around. Why settle for low settings if in case you have a high end pc?

You can run everything maxed out. Game on 👍
Are you running VR or monitor? What resolution? Again with those specs a 4K monitor isn’t a problem either.

Yes, i have 1920x1080 not VR. I am just not shure what really the „Best“ is.

You can simply make every graphic setting the highest (High or the highest value). The only ones you might consider leaving off are; MSAA (Multi-Sample Anti Aliasing) this draws more pixels than your display, which comes with a big performance cost and little be benefit. Honestly a 4090 could handle running this too but I usually don’t see any benefit from it. It’s also possible that it might make distant targets harder to spot but that’s another issue. Motion Blur you might just not like but that’s a personal preference. Otherwise with that hardware you don’t need to worry about turning anything down, just set them all to High or the highest value. If you’re unfamiliar with these the game manual does explain what they all are. For shadows “Default” is better than “Flat”
You might even want to consider a higher resolution monitor. Your specs are overkill for 1080p. You could easily run 1440x2560 or 2160x3840 with no trouble at all. Or you could run a high refresh rate display such as 120 or 144Hz in either 4K or 1440p

Thank you very much. I know 4090 is a bit overkill but I was not sure with all these MSAA, SSAO and these options. I need to say I really got used to 250hz but I think I will upgrade to 1440x2560 165hz

I keep all the SSAO, MSAA, etc off. I can’t ever tell the difference when they are on. Max out graphics and distance.

But I usually play VR though so besides a MSAA x2 to make numbers on dials a little clearer, none of those matter.

I run a 5120x1440 monitor and a 1920x1080 touchscreen with  an 4080, it has no problems with everything on high/ extreme hitting 100+fps roundabout  (with some exceptions).. I run msaa x2 but with 1440p I can’t tell any difference between x2 and x4 and very very little between off and x2 ( mostly around the HUD glass and cockpit edges).SSAA off, sslr off, SSAO I toggle back and forth sometimes because I fell like it gives a hair more depth but unless you’re really nitpicking details its not much difference.. I leave motion blur off and depth of field off ( good for cinematic, not really necessary in regular play) grass/ clutter leave to the lower end, not because of performance, just because I don't like 3’ tall grass blades.  Global cockpit illumination off as well. Chimney smoke at 1, preload at 100,000, forest /object detail/ distance maxed …really it  lots of personal preference. Your system should handle everything topped out without really even trying, especially at 1080p.

As far as reshade there are sooooo many filter to choose it’s tough to say these are the best. You really need to try them one by one and see what they do and find the best combo for your screen, depending on how well the lighting is, contrast, color representation on your monitor(s)etc.

A good way to start though, with no performance impact,IMO,  is go to nvidia settings-desktop color/ appearance while in the game  caucuses or Syria on a nice sunny day( or just after sunrise/ before sunset (active pause works great for this) and play with the contrast, brightness etc.. and the big player- digital vibrance.. You can make dcs really pop by just changing that slider.. a little goes a long way on this one..  yes its doing this on a global level, but you’re essentially tuning the color/contrast etc for your monitor to get the best picture quality from it, which imo should always be done first on any screen before faking it with post processing.  Of course reshade can add on top of that if you’re looking to boost clarity/ sharpness more or fine tune specific color spectrums or fine tune lights and darks. I ran reshade for a long time. After 2.8 came out with the “ improved colors/gamma/shading etc” I found that I’m very satisfied with just tweaking the nvidia settings. At least on my particular monitor-Samsung CRG9… I can tell a huge difference in the color accuracy/ contrast etc between it and my cheap HP touchscreen.. if the hp was my main monitor I feel I would NEED reshade to compensate for its shortcomings. But thats also a $1200 monitor vs a $270 (USD) monitor.

The 2023 and beyond video was cinematically great looking! I wondered too if there was new explosions, fire, shading upgrades etc.. Nope it’s all what’s in the game currently. Whether they use re-shade(which I personally doubt) or if its post processing of the raw video footage( more likely), who’s to say. Point being, every monitor will represent it differently and unfortunately the only real way to get that look is to find what’s best for your particular setup. No, not the answer you probably wanted, but honestly that IS the BEST way. Ive tried several other user’s “these are the best reshade settings” and it in my particular use-case, they definitely were not😂

Now VR? That a whole other ballgame!

I find that even in 2160p I need 4xMSAA in order to not see jaggies especially on things like the carrier railings and such. Even when I was running 4K on a smallish screen like 27” let alone the larger one that I currently use.

With a 13900K and 4090 I get 120Hz in 4K with all the settings maxed 😁 perhaps 80-90fps in a big multiplayer mission. This is with the current Stable version and so without MT yet.

yes, I already got 190 FPS with MT and FHD 😂😂

Go get a 4k Monitor with 120hz and a good VR headset and you'll be bullet proof for a while.

If you have the dough, people are loving the Varijo Aero or Pimax 8KX.. You can get a good headset used for pretty cheap though. Game changer!

Why both?

And I’m not sure any system is bullet proof when it comes to VR. Apparently a 4090 still needs 10 pages of tweaking 🤯

To be honest I am not really a Fan of VR. I have Tobii Eye Tracker and I will upgrade my screen for sure. In VR my head gets so Sweaty and I can’t make that for long. I like to fly longer missions about 4-5 hours.

Cause I'm assuming he uses it for more than just DCS. You're not wrong, a lot of it is DCS, obviously VR titles themselves run great. Once we get DLSS and Vulkan It will definetly help to where fiddling isn't really nessesary (unless you want to but you can do that in 2D too..)

The newer headsets are really comfortable and light weight. My Quest2 was really sweaty. My G2 isn't so bad. I hear the newer ones are really nice though, some of them even have fans that blow cold air in.

No, no card ever needed that in DCS. It's just for those who have too much free time and excite about every % of performance gain.
