Hi there!

I got pretty excited when I saw the previews last year. Especially the colours and the mountanis seemed to be pretty nice. So I've bought it on release day, also because I like supporting developers in our flight aim community.

But to be honest, my initial impressions were not that great. The look of the map and the performance were really disappointing. I've done a quick flight some weeks ago to see how things developed, but it still doesn't "catch" me.

Plus, I love campaigns, and in this regard, nothing seems to happen with the SA map. Which aircraft, missions and/ or servers could you recommend? I'd really like to enjoy this map... But as of now, I'm seriously thinking about uninstalling it when then Sinai map releases.

I uninstalled it. Only because it ate up most of the remaining space on the hardrive. Maybe someday when I upgrade I’ll reinstall. Thought it was decent although at the time it was early release.

Hmmm. I'm flying the "Through The Inferno" dynamic mission in the Viggen right now, mostly over the Falklands. It's good fun. But as the AJS-37 is (very) low and fast, one can see the low level of detail on the ground and the pretty "bad" mesh. It just feels a bit lifeless and worse than other maps. Sure, it's a (very) barren place in real life and It looks nicer from higher above, and/ or early morning or in the evening, but somehow, it just doesn't work for me... 🤷🏻

You need to remember this map is not in release it in Early Access which means it’s not finished and a work in progress. I believe Razbam has posted a graphic that shows the areas that are further along than other areas and how things will be worked on in future patches. Personally I’m having a lot of fun in this map. I like creating screenshots and this map has some of the most beautiful places on it for that. So as time progresses we should see things improve. I know there’s some fixes and upgrades to a lot of the airports and cities that will be patched soon. I’m not sure when though but I’ve heard from various people on YouTube what’s coming.

I absolutely love this map, but I also don't fly on it very much unfortunately. This is not due to it being a bad map (it's a great map imho), but because for the lack of content. Almost no campaigns and more importantly for me: pretty much no public MP servers running this map (especially not any dynamic PvP servers). This means I have to create my own content, building smaller coop missions for me and my buddies, which is rather tedious. I really wish there would be more servers running this map

I just got the SA map today, and wanted to try out the western edges of the map....I think it looks real good! With all the little inlets and such, it seems to me it resembles something like Norway's fjords. I could see many WW2 scenarios with Mosquitos or Lancasters (when it comes out), as well as "knock out the radar/missile facilities. Or navy bases! Lots of nooks and crannies to keep out of radar tracking, old-school navigation would be a b!tch, but who doesn't like b!tches? LOL!

We have had a SA TTi running on it the last few days and its been great fun.

The one thing we notice is the map needs a couple of larger military airfields placed on, while this would not be correct as per the region only have certain airfields, I believe creative license should be applied and some larger bases added to aid uptake and playability.

Please don't. I don't want fantasy maps.

I have the map, I don't fly it because I find it garish, no seasons and many, many low quality textures, DCS is all about immersion, anything that detracts from that immersion is detrimental. I have all the modern maps so there is plenty to keep me busy.
I will revisit the map in a couple of years to see if has improved...

This got bought first day, looked at, and put on the shelf.

I finally pulled it up just because I was completely sick of deserts, and it's becoming my goto.  Just enough big airfields, lots of room for boats, and if you space your AAR resources right you can go anywhere you want.  Kind of like the real world, and I might tank off a KC-130 or -135 here, an S-3B there, and and Il-76 down there...

It helps that I create my own missions, and I've done some formations on the west side at low/mid altitude and the views are stunning.

For me, at least, it's been a pleasant surprise how much I enjoy the map.  For my next trick I'll come up with some scenarios to fly.  The nice thing is I completely ignore geopolitics.  Good guys over here, targets over there...

I bought this map on day one and I really enjoy it. I'd consider it Top 3 for me. Half my time in DCS is just for the fun of flying. I find other sims to be mushy. DCS feels the best for the sense of flight and the SA map gives you a huge scenic area for all kinds of flying. And I like the geography of it, it's cool to have Argentina and Chile in the sim.

As far as missions go, I build my own and the map certainly has enough variety to allow for all kinds of scenarios.

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

It definitively takes up way too much space. I also wish the dev worked on it more 😞

It is chunky, but it's also a big map. As discussed in another thread recently, DCS has a huge storage footprint, but at least there are good and inexpensive options for 1TB drives that the player can dedicate to DCS.

I've seen some quality updates to the map and I'll be happy to see more.
