ED Team f-18hornet Posted June 17, 2010 ED Team Posted June 17, 2010 Will expanded map also be added into BS and FC2 in a patch after release? AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, GeForce RTX 2080Ti, 32 GB DRAM, HOTAS TM Warthog, FSSB R3 Lighting, MFG Crosswind, Win 10 Pro
Xjikz Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Will expanded map also be added into BS and FC2 in a patch after release? ... And does Anapa and the western Russian airport remain (they do not appear on the screenshot) ? Proud to be a [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :joystick::pilotfly::book:
isoul Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Will expanded map also be added into BS and FC2 in a patch after release? I believe that if BS, FC2 and A-10C will be made online compatible the map has to be changed. So I think the actual question is if BS/FC2 will be online compatible with A-10C.
Pilotasso Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I believe that down the road somewhere FC2 will probably have to be dropped as ED will then have to fix 3 different SIM's just to make them to work together, hampering further modules of DCS. .
isoul Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 (edited) I believe that down the road somewhere FC2 will probably have to be dropped as ED will then have to fix 3 different SIM's just to make them to work together, hampering further modules of DCS. The FC2.0 is needed as long as DCS doesn't have enough airframes for people to fly online. Once the DCS will get 3-4 airframes, I believe that FC2.0(with its "simplicity") will be a drawback for DCS, unless FC2.0 planes are made to meet DCS standards (which seems impossible due to time/effort and required contracts needed). I support the "abolishment" of FC2.0 under these conditions. Edited June 17, 2010 by isoul

Toxe Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Oh my, this looks absolutely awesome! And I mean both DCS Warthog and the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS. Without a doubt I'll buy them both once they are available. Absolutely stunning! I feel like a little kid waiting for christmas. :)
Eddie Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 (edited) Audio only. The reporter was probably watching the sealing while Waggs was explaining all the geeky hardcore sim stuff. You don't know Stephanie aka "Panther" do you?! :smilewink: She's a hardcore simmer herself and is well known in the Falcon world, as well as being a serving USAF F-16C technician. Having listened to the interview with Wags, I am loving the JTAC/FAC implementation. Not only co-ords and full 9-line brief, but also laser/IR pointer radio. AND the background AI comms are based what frequency you have the VHF and UHF radios tuned to. I am actually completely unable to think of anything I could possible want to see that isn't going to be there. I'm starting to wonder if I've actually died and gone to heaven. cctoide Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Maybe the least relevant thing to comment on here, but I like the new menu look, it looks a lot classier compared to DCS:BS. I hope that's the final design and not just for the demo copy. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

[cough]DC[/cough] But yeah in the main I agree, It really does sound like ED are finally getting the idea that environment is as important as simulation. Eddie Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 [cough]DC[/cough] Well yeah there is that, but given the cost and time required to make one Im happy to let ED off the hook for a while yet.

GGTharos Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Heh. There's no 'finally getting it'. Improvement of the environment has been talked about and the very basic plan of improving it laid out for everyone to know from the time DCS was announced ... years ago. It's just that people failed to believe, and then remember that ED explained it would all happen a step at a time ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

It's just that people failed to believe, and then remember that ED explained it would all happen a step at a time ;) Maybe that was the wrong way to phrase it, It's just that ED has traditionally been all about the sim, ever since since Flanker 1. It is nice to see the Environment (and as important, the game element) being comprehensively addressed at last. Interactive Training, for example, addresses one of the major flaws with the current ED sims as a game. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
159th_Falcon Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Quick question, I saw the New terrain on the SimHQ website. Does that terrain also feature new airbases? Just curious. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
GGTharos Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Are there airbases in that area of the map RL? That should yield your answer ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
159th_Falcon Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Didn't check, though judging from your reply there aren't any. Thus also none in the sim. Ty for the answer though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] The keeper of all mathematical knowledge and the oracle of flight modeling.:)
cctoide Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Wags said "yes" in the audio interview in response to the question of whether all the armament carried by the real A-10 would be available in the sim. However, I recall some time back people were asking about certain bombs (the CBU-97, specifically, IIRC) and an ED Team member said it might be difficult since that type of weapon hadn't been coded for DCS yet. Was Wags just answering generally or have there been new developments? ... or are you going to make us wait to find out? :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

kam Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 A quick look on Google Earth reveals airbases in eastern Georgia to be; Tbilisi Int, Tbilisi Vaziani, Tbilisi Soganlug and Marneuli.
