MickV Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 I both do and do not want ED to know how much I'd be willing to pay for a full-fidelity MiG-25. (Hint - it's a lot). It is hands-down my grail aircraft for DCS. Well... that and a MiG-21-93. The MiG-25 would be a phenomenal addition to the growing Cold War roster, and an excellent adversary for both the F-4 and the F-14, depending on the era and setting. I think it would be an absolute monster in Cold War multiplayer, especially the PD with look-down radar capability. Obviously the MiG-25 is no dogfighter, but it would make for some really interesting hunter/hunted scenarios, bomber escort, high-alt reconnaissance and/or fleet defence. Especially if aircraft like the B-58 Hustler, Tu-22 Blinder and SR-71 were modelled along with it as AI assets. 4

All IRST are hugely overperforming in DCS right now, but they are being reworked to interact with atmospheric conditions, clouds. This will reduce their effectifeness dramatically making them useful only is specific situations, like IRL.

This mission on Nevada map. If MiG-25 is able to do this moves with his heavy weight (34 tons) in close dogfight as wing supporting more maneurable aircraft....wow. FlankerKiller Posted June 15, 2023 Posted June 15, 2023 I've been against this in the past, but after a ton of research I have changed my mind. I do think it would have to be a multi version aircraft. But that is becoming normal for DCS modules. I also think it's right up the old Bellsimteck teams ally. Once the Hind is done this would be a cool project. You would need the Interceptor, Reconnocence, and SEAD versions in my opinion. The SEAD version would be particularly valuable in a late cold War type scenario. Working with the Fishbed, Flogger, and Hind it would ba a valuable asset to clear out SAMs. Especially going up against the Patriot. It's got the speed to get out of doge if fighter are inbound too. The Interceptor version would struggle in air to air if it was Alone. But it wouldn't be alone. It would be backed up by Fishbeds, and Floggers. Remember the Soviets were supposed to have the numbers advantage. I've often thought a good tactic would be to have the Foxbats go in for the BVR fight. Just to tie up the Western fighters, and maybe thin them out a bit. Then turn and run letting the Fishbeds git close and mix it up a bit. It's a BVR Fox one fighter. But a good one. Remember this this did kill a Hornet. It did damage an Egale, and it did get close enough to a pair of Egales to be engaged in a classic dogfight. If those Egale driver hadn't picked the Foxbats on the deck up visually then it's likely that the Egale wouldn't have its undefeated record. Point is this thing was a dangerous fighter before the days of the AMRAAM. It would bring some much needed capabilities to the Reds. It would be a super cool and unique aircraft in DCS. And it would fit right into the mix of late cold War jets and choppers already in DCS and on the way. The good news about multiple versions is they are each much simpler then any modern multi role fighter. 3

Too bad we get more F-15A, B, C, D, E and alike but not unique Cold War era machines. 3

I was told by someone connected to a 3rd party devs when I mentioned I was working on getting Mig-25p docs that getting Mig-25pd wouldn’t be very difficult. So while I’m still waiting for them it seems doing a better version could be done if their was any willingness. 1
