Shoot, we completely forgot about the "ET" birds, they would also be part of the OT/WA tailcode that may be photos with a new weapon or pod that may never make to the unit level.

Mostly precision.  Dumb bombs during training to keep the skills up, but the main focus was GBU-everything.  One weapon that's not mentioned is the AGM-130.  During my time, it was still being used.  It was being trained w/constantly by the 335th and 336th minus the fins and rocket motor.

Thanks!

So F15E didn't see any CAS role in the OEF and OIF? Mostly precision strikes?

It did.  It carried CBU’s.  It’s still used in the CAS role, but so are B-1’s and 52’s.  I gotta pic some where during a hot preflight for a CSAR alert.  3xCBU-87’s, 4xGBU-12, 1xGBU-24, 2x120, 2x9, and PGU’s.

So what did the SE carry mostly? LGBs and JDAMs? I heard notso talk about he never really carried dumb bombs on tour and all he ever carried was LGBs and towards the end of his career, he got JDAMs with the + model.

The only units really utilizing -65s operationally were out of Mt Home. The had a specific task qual for them.  It was just one of those niche case items that wasnt an across the fleet thing. So yes, they were operational at a time back around the turn of the century.

As far as OEF/OIF, was a bit of a mix depending on the time period. A lot of precisions strikes in the beginning, moving on to what came to be known as XCAS later on. OIF had some DCA/escort in the early time periods.

As far as weapons, just about everything to include slick MK-82s. PGMs being primary though. I dont have numbers in front of me, but in the early OIF days, about half of the GBU-12s expended in the AOR came off the E models.

That’s why I never saw 65’s.  SJ didn’t load those.

From the manual page 433.

13.2 AIR TO GROUND WEAPONS
DCS F-15E in Early Access is capable of using almost all of the types of dumb bombs
and laser-guided munitions. Other types, such as AGM-65 Maverick, AGM-130 as
well as JDAMs will be available at the later stage.

YMMV

I'm a bit late to the party, but why is all the talk only referencing US birds? What do other nations strap to the Mudhens? I can't see export customers limiting themselves to what the US do, as the US have more aircraft types to spread roles and missions across. Do the Koreans, Qataris, Saudis, Israelis not use any AG missiles on them?

Im not really too worried about Mavericks...I much prefer the big Mofo bombs that leave you thinkin just wtf happened!!

They may well use them in other air forces but this is a different version...S2+ I think....

Mavericks are more like old flight sim legacy where things were 'not complete' if you don't have them in arsenal. F-15E aged really well and there are a lot of better Maverick standoff alternatives like GBU-15 or AGM-130 we expect to land on racks at some point of time. Then JDAM, SDB...a lot of fun.

@Punkmonkey22

I guess there's no point stretching the topic on F-15E derivatives which use weapons we won't have integrated in F-15E as USAF never performed IOC or never supported operational use even with IOC (Mavericks excluded).

Because we have a USAF Strike Eagle.

These are already in the F-15E's ../coremods/..shapes/ folder.
Should explain if they are planned. (not that I am proud of it, but I had to make them) 😄

The Maverick was listed in the diagram on the forums that showed what weapons will be available. In the manual the chapter under guided missiles says "not available during early access". So it appears they will be available at some point.

Aaaaaaand this is why you only by things in EA if you're happy with how they are at the time you buy it.    Never getting mavericks now.

The lack of Mavericks on the SE doesn't bother me at all.

The lack of a GBU-28 makes me very sad. 😟

nah screw the gbu-28. the lack of gbu-39s is the real crime here.

especially when ED is refusing to add them to any other jet with every cell in their bodies

you can also just do a lil bit of lua editing and get those gbu-28s

Hey, GBU-28s are people too. Be nice.

And I could also build a particle accelerator in my toaster oven, but that's as unlikely to happen as me messing with lua files.
