razo+r Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 (edited) Depends. For runways, BLU-107. For one tank, probably a GBU10, 24 or MK84 if you manage to hit it. For multiple tanks, probably a CBU-97/105. For infantry, I'd say any of the clusters or GP/LGB bombs. For Bunkers, GBU24 or a MK84 with a delay fuze fitted on it. For mass destruction, the B61 that is not in the game. AvgWhiteGuy Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I'd say any bomb that lands next to you would the trick, otherwise you need to give us some parameters of 'deadliest' to who/what/where. 1 Asus B85 Pro Gamer - 32GB - Intel® Core i5-4460 CPU - SanDisk SDSSDXPS480G -Windows 10 Pro 64-bit - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 TrackIR5 - TM Warthog HOTAS Stick & Throttle - TM Cougar MFCDs - TM TPR Rudder Pedals - Razer Orbweaver - SoundBlasterX G5 DAC

Beirut Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 Really need the GBU-28s. This thing is all about big bombs. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

On the contrary, my esteemed fellow flyer, every target I wish immolated is a good target. An airplane hangar, a small building, a schmuck in a jeep, all will feel the love of the GBU-28 as soon as I have it. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

Overall both defending against tactical nuclear strikes, intercepting enemy aircraft. And trying to perform them with e.g. low altitude nuclear toss bombing would be very interesting missions, especially in cold war scenarios where it was considered as basis of the air warfare and jet fighters main role.

AvgWhiteGuy Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I would think a GBU-10 is more 'entertaining' than a GBU-24 (or similar penetrator) for the BIG BLAST. The penetrator's blast is focused downwards and below ground level whereas the GBU-10 is less focused. Ignition Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 MK84 based weapons are best for surface targets and "normal" buildings and structures.

But is that modeled in DCS? looks like DCS uses the exact same boom boom graphics for all bombs, with just slightly diffrent sizes. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 3090, 64Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
AvgWhiteGuy Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 @Gunfreak...good question, don't know. But it would be pretty simple to test the theory with a couple quick (and massive) BOOMS on a piece of real estate without hard structure. Sounds like fun.... I think there's an inert B61 training round being added at some stage if you wanted to simulate that kind of mission. I vaguely remember a live B61 being available for loadout in Falcon 4 Allied Force. To be honest it was pretty boring (just manual drop as I recall, then a big flash on detonation but no mushroom cloud etc) and the subsequent scale of damage with everything in miles bursting into flames ground the game to a near halt slideshow. About the only fun thing was making sure you got out of harm's way before it went off.
