Nope.  I'm just gonna put $0.50 a month aside.  Won't miss it and I ought to have enough to cover the full price..... and 3 more.

Just so I understand, you’re desperate to give money for a product that could be 1-2 years away?

Are you familiar with "Kickstarter" projects or crowdfunding in general? Many people are happy to associate themselves with projects and show their support not only through words, but tangible action (funding in this case). I believe that there is ample evidence that people like to do this; it's not for everyone, and there is (of course) some risk involved. But there's a market for this.

All in all, I believe it's a viable way for both players and vendors to come to a business deal before the goods are delivered. If it makes people happy then there's a market for it. In my mind, crowdfunding is merely the logical extension of the pre-sales concept, so yeah, there are definitely people who are happy (or eager - but not necessarily "desperate" as you put it) to advance funds for a product not yet available. To me it lowers the financial risk for the vendor (by shifting it to the buyer) and makes actual delivery a bit more likely. So it has its uses, but is not for everyone.

Fair enough.

As long as that’s the reason as against to use it to batter the developer for not meeting proposed deadlines, then sure.

If developers didn't give deadlines, then perhaps impatient users wouldn't keep bothering them... me, as far as I'm concerned I'll buy it when it's done, I'm not fussed about waiting.

I agree with this 💯

That said, HB has a reputation of going above and beyond for their customers.  I have little doubt the F4 will be any less..

Crowdfunding and Kickstarter is to give money for projects that wouldnt be done otherwise. And the F-4 will have crowdfuding/Early Access, when they start giving an unfinished version of the plane module, against a price.

Preordering digital goods that have been financed already, but have no released elements is NOT crowdfunding. Thats just emotionally investing yourself with money into something.

Is that aimed at Heatblur? Because in that case you'd be making stuff up, theres no indicator for that. And if Heatblur deserves that effort, then Im sure theyre good enough to be honest about it.

To me, it would actually lower my opinion if HB opens an early preorder, as long as they dont clearly state a believable requirement for it. I hope they are better than that.

Yes - apologies for being obscure. My point was that there are people who are willing to give funds to something that does not yet exist.

It was not aimed at anyone, my post was not intended to be antagonistic in any way - something that I'm not sure I can say about yours.
