Look, I get it. I too want maximum realism and in a perfect world I'd love to have a rich slate of red and blue side full fidelity WW2 modules with a ton of different AI to fight against from different theaters and timeframes in the war. We're simply never going to have that within a reasonable timeframe. (inb4 "but ______ plane releases in just 2 weeks!"). The Corsair has been in development for literally 8 years and its been what, like 2 years now for ED to re-skin an old B52 AI model? Maybe the people of the 22nd century will enjoy the game you hope for, but none of us will.

I'm totally with Enigma on this one, especially when it comes to DCS WW2. Keep full fidelity flagship modules the centerpiece of the game and fill in the gaps with lower fidelity stuff.

You are under the impression that an FC3 plane is fast to make and its not. ED can't make more then 1 AI aircraft every 3 year.  They've spent 3 years upgrading 3 AI aircraft.

WW2 DCS has 4 AI aircraft(one which is useless at the moment since it can't drop cargo or paratroopers)

The problem isn't that full fidelity takes too long etc. It's EDs priorities.

They could make 10-20 WW2 AI aircraft in a year. But it would require investment in time and money. Which ED won't do because WW2 DCS is a tiny side project.

If ED decided to actually ramp up WW2 content.  Would much rather have 2 new full fidelity ww2 planes and 10 AI planes. Instead of 4 FC3 planes.

Lol, almost half of DCS maps, assets and aircraft are WW2 already with more WIP and in plans. And you're wrong about only 4 AI planes - you forget that every FF aircraft is AI too.

@Tree_Beard We already have this thread. Please discuss it there.

There's

2 maps(one of which isn't ED)

There are a total of 9 maps. 2/1 out of 7 isn't half.

There's a total of 8 WW2 aircraft. Vs close to 30 full fidelity aircraft.

And no FF and AI aircraft are two very different things when we talk about production (which is what we are talking about)

The asset pack is also missing lots of basics stuff, various vehicles,  infantry etc.(not to mention dozens of AI aircraft. )And almost no ships.

ED doesn't seem very concerned about fixing ground fire and ship fire accuracy which is a big game breaker for WW2(as well as helicopters)

Various ww2 moduals have had some very nasty bugs that sometimes have lasted years and years before being fixed.

So yes WW2 is a tiny side project. ED themselves has said the WW2 team is very small and using that as an excuse for why everything is taking so long with everything related to WW2.

It might be your opinion but it's not tiny side project by any objective means, and it's still growing.

P-38 and a PBY-5 for me, please.

Yeah I’d like the Black Cat too but I think we can’t have submarines without a mod. It would be cool to fly over and drop depth charges on a U Boat.

Agreed, unfortunately I think you are correct. Maybe one day we’ll get a digital combat simulation for maritime warfare. 🥰

P-38 for both Normandy, and the Pacific. If it's just for the Pacific, the TBF and SBD have to be in there or continued Pacific content is meaningless. I wonder which developer will get them flying first.

I see no reason not to do FF warbirds. The more the better. However I really think ED and the other developers need to focus on the Pacific and Eastern Front.  SO the Zeke is my top choice it will be a good Axis opponent for the Corsair and Hellcat. Then anything Soviet that served along side both the I-16 and Mig-15. As I keep pointing out the I-16 and MiG-15 both exist in an asset desert I know their service dates don't overlap but I think ED should focus equipment that overlapped with both the I-16 and MiG-15 even if they are just AI.

3 WW2 maps, plus ED Marianas WW2 on develop. 7 Modern + 5 on develop. (4 / 11)
8 + 3 on develop ED F6F, OctopusG La7 and M3 F4-U1 (+1 ED Me262 not Started). And 30 (modern) + 18 on develop. (11 / 48)

Has no a ED problem with 3rd parties not centred on WW2.

If its not out it doesn't count. Until we can fly it. It doesn't exists.

And there's only 2 ww2 maps.

You can't go around counting the F4U which has been in production for 5 years yes still isn't here.

It is an official module, whether you like it or not, and in development.

Can we play it?

No then it doesn't count, Mag3 can go bust, they can be hit by a meteorite, DCS can be gone etc, so until we can actually fly it, it doesn't count.

Don't know why everyone likes extremely late war planes that didnt even affect the war.  262, 410, K4, Dora...really did nothing.

We need bread and butter planes like the F and G 109, Ju88s, 87s, Me 110, P38, Typhoon.

Initially I thought the He111 or sensible Ju87 & 88s.

Typhoon is a great shout and just belongs. I’d vote for it twice. Any and all the Spits, (I want Hurris too).

if we’re breaking out the PBYs and flying boats my golden ticket vote goes to the Short Sunderland as my Grandad flew in them and left one off Norway. Though it’ll probably be preserved under freezing water, the likelihood of me ever having a look around it is infinitely remote so pretty please, one of those, even though my vote will probably be it’s only one.

I tend to agree with Gunfreak a bit when it comes to WWII. I read the explanation that the team isn’t that large too. It does seem pretty hit and miss and though I own probably as many modern types as I do vintage, the modern stuff is obviously their favourite child. Not necessarily for me, I love the musty ol birds, so to speak.

To boil it down to one then, my vote goes for a Fairey Swordfish, just to further confuse everything. 😄

Oh, I would of course give honourable mentions to full fidelity Lancasters (Scooby’s on it), B17s, B25s, P38s, Zeros… Ok, I’ll shh now.

Looks like I need to make another Data Gathering thread for the P-38. I just don’t know the designations for the weapons manual for WWII aircraft. I know for later USAAC (USAF) bird they have a T.O. xxxx-xxxx prefix.

No don’t run. I love that plane as well. I’d like a Z for the Channel Map and an N for Normandy.
