The AH's role always was and still IS to support the ground forces by destroying enemy armor and infantry....

Indeed - as said before, a 100% All-Terrain IFV!

As I Said - Neck Strain!

Must remember that you will not be dealing with 'Dumb as a Short Thick Plank' AI here but Whirly-Bird Drivers that can think, adapt, act and react........You gotta find the Egg-Beater first BEFORE he finds you........and again - my Vikhr outranges your GAU-8 :D

Gotta admit it though - It's gonna be BAGS of fun!

LOL Viper you got no hope, FLIR v's a MK1 eyeball puts the odds against the heli driver. Good luck trying to lock up an A-10 using the Skhval when it's WVR, It's hard enough locking another heli up plus I'll be rolling in on you from heights where the helis don't go. TBH I couldn't deal with the shame of being KIA'd by a whirlybird! It's just not going to happen (I hope) either way like you said it's going to be bags of fun.

Vault, While technically the Hog is superior, the unfortunate truth is that LOMAC and by extension DCS hog drivers like to use it like a helicopter: Very low.

Thus Viper's threat has some merit, especially given the reduced SA that the vast majority of ground-pounding player display ;)

Also, a skilled heli pilot can evade detection and destruction at least (As well he should! HELICOPTER! EVADE!) by using terrain. Most DCS helipilots like to fly their helis like jets: Fast and without much hiding ;)

Unfortunate, but in many cases also a necessity. At least it will be in my missions :) A Red Army tank or mechanized rifle division, taking up an area of roughly 20x20 km at the front is protected by whooping 20 organic SA-8 SAMs. Additionally each division gets one SA-11 battery from the army as well as complete coverage from SA-12s of the army group. Get low or die :)

In LOMAC you don't have a choice but to fly low when you're actually attacking. I can't see worth beans what exactly I'm targeting with a maverick unless I'm low and very close. That stuff gets dangerous the 4th time you make a pass straining to see that last Tunguska. After the mavericks are gone, its all visual targeting. Even in the Su-25T I have trouble. I've tried locating a tank while flying fairly high, but its impossible with the way the view distance is in LOMAC. In Black Shark I've never been that high in the air, so I don't know if it has been improved.

In the A-10C, you shouldn't have to worry about all this, hopefully! :)

Hopefully up there to help you slip through in the weeds, but I doubt you will be cruising around at 15K. At least the Air Force and the real A-10 drivers didn't expect to do so ;)

Can't wait to build those large scale Red Flag battles for DCS: A-10C Warthog :)

Realistic combined jet fighter / helicopter multiplayer: Week 1: Fighters fly Week 2: Helicopters fly

I guess, there's something that could've changed this scenario and make online gameplay much more intense and involving. It's the good old idea of the realtime AI units control, RTS-like. It could use the concepts of the military C4I systems and partially resemble them.

Such a gameplay would also draw attention of RTS and Wargame fans.

Unfortunately, it involves quite a large amount of programming work.

So how will it work against human players in fighters?

I am not sure how are you going to survive a fighter attack when you are flying a Ka-50. The fighter jockey will fire like 6 AAMs for a kill in his stats (and to feel better) , and you will have less than a few seconds to save your butt, let alone responding him back with the same love.

I am writing this after my experience on LOCK ON severs. My personal record is evading 12 AAMs in Su-25 in one sortie against human players when I was hunting ground targets:joystick:

So long as you fly low no one will have a chance to spot you on radar and for that matter I pity the jet pilot who should be followed back to his air base by a KA50 or AH64 because its a turkey shoot from there if one should find their base.

Mmm... I know it's not this simple but... And for the sake of fun... If I can kill Sus and Migs with A10 in LOMAC then I surely can kill A10s with Ka-50, just a matter of patience, not risk being spooted, flying low, be smart and intelligent and you get your kill. Obvioully it would be much harder to kill an A10 from a Ka-50 than the inverse but still it's possible. Now... If you have an A10 pilot that is really good and it's really in a mood of killing Ka-50... Then we will all be FUBAR! :pilotfly:Still it will be really fun!

And if you get an A10 it will be personal rewarding! :joystick:

Not sure where you came up with that ... unless you're flying some sort of stealth ka-50 or 64, 'cause those rotors ... pingpingping.

And that's assuming you make it as fasr as that base, too. ;)
