reported F14 VR - VDI screen not usable in MT Version

I’m following.

i doubt it’s specifically nvidia related though, as for the first year and a half of this problem existing I was using an AMD gfx card

But there's nothing there that I don't clear manually before every patch (I even clear more folders than just those), and yet the VDI is still black on my end.

Oh, was just referring to what other folders it could be. I have never seen the issue. Even when I don't clear any folders. My only issue is that when I export, I cannot switch it.

I have deleted the files from both folders but I still get the same error.

The problem is back for me. Not really sure if it was an error in my test procedure or an actual change on my system. Worked fine for 4-5 days, but its failing every time I try it today. I was cold starting on a super carrier. Sorry guys.

Sorry, just catching up to this thread again (I'm only an intermittent Tomcat flier).  Is the "fix" just choosing to re-fly the mission after spawning in? Like literally spawn, exit mission, re-fly? And this only happens in single player missions, right? I haven't flown multiplayer yet, but I plan on it.

I think shift R works as well, restart, so you don’t need to come all the way out

The mission restart has always fixed this for me (VR + MT); however it can present an issue for a few missions in the Speed & Angels Campaign. This issue is that the last 6 missions start with an 'a' mission (intro to mission) and as such cannot restart the 'b' mission (or at least i don't know how to within the campaign). This means that you will not be able to view the camera which point tracks laser guided ground targets (ships in this case) or helps identify air targets, etc.

No, it doesn't work only in the first mission you run in DCS session. And, yes I tested in S&A campaign - no problem. The built-in mission autoloading actually make it non-issue as you don't have to remember about it.

ah, i must be doing something wrong or my DCS hardware/software environment must be an issue as, no matter what i tried, i could not get the TCS vid to show. Not a big deal as the RIO does the targeting and as such i was able to complete the missions.

I can confirm that it does, and whats more, it seems to work for the Speed & Angels missions too.

If I use the Esc, Quit, Fly Again method, it reloads the 'a' mission first, and I still get the same issue when the 'b' mission loads every time. But if I get into the 'b' mission, then use the keyboard shortcut for Restart Mission, it only reloads the 'b' mission and the issue is resolved. Still a work around but better than nothing I suppose.

I also still run into this issue every single mission in VR (I only play in VR). At first simply reloading the mission solved the issue but now nothing has helped for months on end. I do use like 2 downloaded missions a lot which I modified as well (ACM and BFM against the F5, I changed the weather and some skins and missile loadout). All these missions have the same issue.

 

This is my system:

AMD Ryzen 5700X3D, RX7900 XTX, 48GB 27" 1440P monitor and Oculus Quest 2. WinWing Orion 2 w/ FA18 throttle, VKB Gladiator EVO w/ F14 grip, Logitech G rudder pedals, TrackIR 5, WinWing MFD (2x), WinWing UFC and Voice Attack.

It's still happening for me, but if I use the keyboard shortcut it works. I fly in VR. I get really frustrated when I forget and get in the air and have to restart my mission!

The keyboard shortcut for restart mission. I think it's in the UI layer.
