Voolpy Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) Hello, I have unpleasant effect. I'm in VR G2 and flying over the water gives me the impression of flying at an angle like a crab following the flight axis. Do you have the same sensation? I tested with and without the new options, same result. - It's as if the surface of the water is also moving rapidly in one direction NOTA : I didn't have these effects before. zildac Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Zildac, use DLAA + DLSS, nothing else.Switch to MSAA temporarily and see if the issue persists. 1 14900KS | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 6600 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero

kuschmu Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 (edited) Could be my issue but could also be a bug ... I have a simple mission (OB 2.9), amongst others containing a hot Huey at Batumi. The mission is setup with dynamic weather. Then I fly over to the river and see that the water is moving upwards/downwards depending on flying speed and direction. When modifying the mission with some static weather then everything is ok. Can anybody confirm? Edit: Further testing showed that this effect only happens when the mission is run on a (dedicated) server and joined by a client. See the attached video clip: 04 2023-12-20_14-48-21.mp4 Edited December 20, 2023 by kuschmu update with video clip 1

Aroe Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I run a dedicated server for my squadron, and a couple of members have been complaining about this visual water glitch that makes it look like your plane is sitting still in mid-air and makes the boats look like they're moving super fast. A couple of the guys stated that it's only on our server and doesn't happen in other servers/single-player missions. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this bug and if you have any explanation or fix for it. Here is video proof from my friend's perspective:

Flappie Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) It's likely caused by some mod(s) users by these users, even though they claim they don't see this issue on other servers. They should try this: Disable their mods Repair DCS. Edited December 30, 2023 by Flappie ---
kuschmu Posted January 1, 2024 Posted January 1, 2024 Maybe it has the same reason as in my case. See here: Do you have Dynamic Weather set up in your mission? If yes, try to set it to some Static Weather. Please report back if that helped, thanks. 1
Flappie Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 Hi, can you please provide a short DCS track showing this issue? ---
kuschmu Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 There you go ... btw: observing the effect in a trk replay only works the first time after dcs start. if you replay it a second time then the effect does not occur anymore ... ?? btw: also check out the 'topography' of the river viggen - 29x02 - Day (dynbug)-20240102-214559.trk
Solution Flappie Posted January 8, 2024 Solution Posted January 8, 2024 Thanks for the track. That is very strange indeed. If I recall correctly, the dynamic weather is obsolete since we got the new clouds (DCS 2.7). It should not be used at the moment. ---
kuschmu Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Hi Flappie, in fact I was not aware of the obsolescence of the Dynamic Weather and I encountered that strange effect only recently. So your recommendation is an easy solution and I will set up my missions accordingly with Static Weather. Thanks for the feedback
Chewmann Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 (edited) I can confirm many of us saw this on our multiplayer server last night. It literally can give you vertigo while trying to land on the carrier. Edited January 14, 2024 by Chewmann 1
AtomicLabMonkey Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 So - I'm not even really sure where to put this topic. I use a G2 headset to fly in VR and recently upgraded just about everything in my machine, so DCS is a recent/new install. When I fly now near water close enough to see any detail in it, the motion of the water appears wrong. As in.. it looks like it's moving the wrong way, moving the same direction my airplane is moving, as I fly over it. It's incredibly disorienting. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
Flappie Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 It happens because the mission you're flying has dynamic weather enabled. This feature is deprecated since 2.7. It's best not to use it as long as it's in its current state. 2 ---
AtomicLabMonkey Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Thanks! - I'll disable it and see what happens
mytai01 Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 (edited) After flying for awhile the water starts to move backwards. It's especially disorienting in VR when trying to land on the carrier. You have to block what you see the water doing or you'll think you're flying backwards and crash. I have a track, but it's 56.1 MB... I'll see if I can put it out on my YouTube channel... Flappie Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 @mytai01 Don't use dynamic weather in your missions. It's been obsolete for a while. 2 ---

Why have the interfaces for no longer working features been left in the sim? Do they have any idea how much frustration and wasted time that causes users, particularly new ones who get scared off by issues like these? (Another one is the double-mapping of controls that DCS likes to do by default if it doesn't have preset mappings for your controllers. How many people never get past that and think the sim or their hardware is faulty?) 3
