Yes, PTT worked (without Easy Comms), thanks! However, I am not getting a response from my wing. In the ME I have Freq set as 264AM Channel 1 but no response from the wing after issuing various radio menu commands and playing around with the ARC-51. Is there a tutorial or manual somewhere? I found the TM Op Manual online though but not sure if that would help with sim comms.

When you’re setting frequencies, have you tried messing with the zeros? Not the Japanese, they can wait, but I remember having trouble ages ago because I hadn’t thought of it. Try setting it to 0.264 instead of 264. 

I may be wrong, I’ve barely slept and shouldn’t have my eyes open let alone be posting ideas on the etherweb. I haven’t looked for a while but often when I’m having trouble with it the zero’s what’s caught me out.

The first digit on the left is fixed at 2 and not changeable

I have not tried other free aircraft mods like the A-4 or Blackhawk. But I am curious to know if the radio comms menu for these mods work in solo pay with AI flight, ATC, etc.

A-4 how does for sure. I believe the UH-60L does too. Yeah, it does, as you can do AAR in both.

Of that I'm positive. AFAIK the source code for the radios is available on Github for both modules, and I'm sure it can be used as long as the credit goes where credit's due. Don't quote me on this, but I believe I read somewhere that the code in the UH-60L is actually from the Super Tucano. Anyone, please correct me if I am mistaken.

FWIW, me and my guys are in the same boat. We can open comms menu on ground (easy comms off), but in air it doesn't work.

We have mission elements that trigger via F10 custom radio.

It'd be great if this was an "us" problem!

No matter what radio 1-4 I choose, whenever I press the PTT, the radio menu will always display "INT", and comparing with the Huey it seems only the first trigger on the cyclic is simulated, which means only the ICS/intercom works. On the Huey when the second stage of the trigger is pressed, the radio menu will display the radio 1-4 I have chosen.
Could this be the issue?

The menu you get up on top right corner when you press a PTT or the comms menu keybind. I usually use VAICOM and have the menu hidden. Been just joyriding in this little gem for now, and haven't paid any attention to the comms until the others seem to have issues. I just assumed the incorrect "\" (backslash) keybind was used, as it only works on FC3 modules and Easy Comms for FF.
I'll post a screenshot when I get home, that might be better, and easier to explain what I see. But if it works as intended, then it's just a user error on my part. I just assumed it would work like in the Huey!

Basically... I can't get this to work. No response from AI (wingman, ATC, etc). 
Is player to AI comms simulated in this free mod? If so, we need instructions/tutorial on how it works.

Yes it is. We tested it with the ATC with good success. In short you need to:

- dial in the frequency 

- choose the channel you want to talk on on the lower Intercon (not sure: channel 2 for UHF and channel 1 for FM)

- use PTT keybind (default RShift +#) to open comm menu

 

I did not test to communicate to a flight. Maybe you can setup a small mission we're it works e.g. for the huey.

Ok, I managed to get radio menu comms to work with AI (wingman, ATC). I learned/noted a couple of things though:

1.   Left Pic:  PRESET CHAN requires GD XMIT mode selected. In ME, the OH-6As were set to 264 AM and Chan 1 = 264 while Chan 2 = 265.
     Both channels worked. I guess they were close enough. But in MAN mode, frequency had to be exact (26400).  
     In another test with 257 AM (Chan 7) set in ME, only Chan 8 (258 AM) worked in GD XMIT mode. Seems the PRESET CHAN is a bit buggy
     and does not quite follow ME settings. 

2.  Right Pic:  In either pilot or CPG seat, as long as INT 2 knob selector was at 2 (UHF) or 3 (VHF), it worked. 
     It didn't matter what I did with INT 1. (I thought INT 1 was for pilot and INT 2 for CPG.)  

3.  With the sound of the rotor blades turning, ATC is barely audible even with radio volumes at max. (Hear like in helmet checked.)
