Duck21 Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Personally I wish for as much realism as possible, and that means I'd love to have the cockpit seen in NATO-converted examples. That way I get English labels and some NATO standard instruments, mixed with very few Russian labels, which will be easy to learn if needed. So since this NATO cockpit exists, it would be a shame if they simply took a Russian Air Force cockpit and translate all labels to English. Why do an unrealistic English cockpit if a realistic English one exists in reality!
Gierasimov Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I guess it will be like it is with Hind. Full original cockpit and full EN translated one. The actual one will be dependent on reference aircraft ED is going to simulate. So far they only confirmed it is going to be 9.12 Warsaw Pact export version, however this could mean very different things as far as cockpit labels go; therefore I think it will be like it is with Hind. Dragon1-1 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 WP military hardware typically had Russian language cockpits. Russian was usually taught in schools the way English is now, so that wouldn't have been an issue. 1
pjbunnyru Posted March 13 Posted March 13 if there were screens with multiple systems and subsystems, desire for translation would be understandable. but what cant u remember in cockpit? location of switches is unchanged. 1 Cold War Germany, Kola, Afghanistan, Sinai, Persian Gulf, Iraq, Syria MiG-29A Fulcrum, Black Shark 3, F/A-18C, F-16C Viper, Flaming Cliffs 2024

Because that would also mean TACAN instead of RSBN/PRMG, a different radio, different IFF system, etc. pp. ... a lot of additional work for ED. 2 Mancher zum Meister sich erklärt, dem nie das Handwerk ward gelehrt!
Arecibo Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) It would be great if there was a 'spotlight' translation, where only the area you were looking directly at was translated into your native language. Dragon1-1 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I think this is a bit too much to ask. It'd be seriously complex to implement, with little benefit. 2

Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The problem I saw in Wags' latest video is that there was "knots", "feet" and "miles" everywhere on the gauges. Yes I'm aware that you can set English cockpit and English avionics options separately, but those are LANGUAGE options and it seems in DCS they also change the UNITS without saying that they do. I hope that on launch we'll be able to set English LANGUAGE while retaining the proper UNITS. Because if you set English cockpit and Native avionics, parts of the cockpit will still be in Russian (it's like that in current modules as well such as Mi-24). Again, those options should just affect the language, not the units. 2 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON

Grown up in former West Germany it wasn't the preferred foreign language. However although used to the metric system the civilized world uses , I use this strange imperial units when flying. As almost all dimensions, metrics, tables, formulas are given in feet, knots, pounds, psi ect. I was just tired of always calculating this back and forth. I didn’t go to school in Poland like you so I didn’t get the chance to learn Russian. I tried to do it on my own for a while but learning French, German and English on top of my native language was enough work already. So I want to understand what I’m reading and what Nadia is saying, at the very least until I’m comfortable enough with the module. Then and only then might I switch to Russian.
