Hi, I would like to ask if there is the possibility of doing the ACLS also with case I ( instead case III ) (some files to be modified).

also you have to do the whole process of 300 miles 6000 feet then 250 miles 5000 feet etc. or I can show up at 140 miles and 1200 feet about 3 miles from the carrier and ask for the platform to have the ACLS ?

Whaaaat? I think you need to read more about Case III procedure. What 300 miles?! What 140 miles?

....why? In case 1 pattern's your rolling out into the grove at most 1 mile aft of the boat. There are so many issues with try to doing it this way let alone getting the ACLS to stabilize before you're already right up on the ramp. 

 

All of case 3 happens at 50 DME and in. Not "300" where are you even getting this from??

Hi Ivo,

Case I is used during day with good weather. The pilots use the IFOLS light for the last 17 or so seconds in final ("the groove"). Case III is a night time or bad weather ops. The recovery rate is then lower. 

Maybe explain why you want to do ACLS during Case I so we can help solve the problem/issue.

Thank for your help

I arrive at 5 miles 140 knots approximately 1200 feet everything set correctly on the left MFD landind check and I no longer receive the ACL 1 ready message only once I saw it on the left MFD when I pressed AP and CPL on the left MFD the message appeared auto pilot with the beep again everything was in order with ACL 1 I pressed the usual AP plus CLP but it was not engaged

Hi,

the supercarrier needs you to trigger certain events, you need to call mother, then go through all the comms, then check in to tower and call platform etc.. otherwise things will not work. Also the boat has to be in Case III mode, so you need to be after sunset +30'/before sunrise-30' (I haven't tested exactly when it changes to Case III) or have ceilings/vis below Case 2 (also I don't know exactly when the supercarrier changes case based on weather)...

This Case III approach is similar to an ILS in IFR operations. If you don't know anything about IFR flying, like holding patterns, radials etc. it might be quite difficult..

I receive the autopilot message on the left MFD with audible warning, I am unable to activate the AP autopilot and then activate CLP

Hmm, try to make sure you are trimmed out and not making any stick inputs. Maybe make your deadzone a little bigger for test purposes.

The 'A/P' advisory also tells me you still have CSS autopilot mode engaged. Ensure to pull the paddle switch to disengage all autopilot modes before setting the aircraft for landing configuration, or the aircraft will fight itself.

If you are in an autopilot mode before the ACLS latch you have to completely disengage autopilot and then reengage coupled mode to get it into CPL P/R. Otherwise it stays in CPL HDG or it freaks out and kicks the jet out of AP

Hi, today I try again but as per the attached screen I always get this autopilot and master caution light on the left MFD.
both with ATC activated and not activated and autopilot deactivated see attached photoerrore.pngcomandi.png

To me it seems that your controls are disengaging AP.

Also check if there are roll-pitch axes assigned to other controls than the stick or if there's noise on the controller output.

Hi deadzone is 5 on X and Y and Z for zoom view axis for joystick and no other axis assigned. to throttle only RZ axis for booth engine

Hi everyone. After watching three tutorials on Youtube, taking meticulous notes on the procedure, and consulting Chuck's wonderful guide, I was never able to perform a case III landing with the F-18!!!!!! Up to now I have tried the attached mission 4 times and I'm a little tired. Once the plane automatically passes over the aircraft carrier, once it crashes on the stern, once it performs such maneuvers that disable the ACLS, once the plane passes over the aircraft carrier again. I don't think I'm so bad, even because at about 8 nm from the aircraft carrier (at the speed and altitude ordered) I activate the automatic pilot (CPL) and I don't do anything anymore, it does all the ACLS and it does it very badly!!!!

Hi, I tried, your mission, however I always have the same error with the ATTH autopilot and HSEL doesn't give me an error instead CPL always gives me the writing on the left MFD as per the photo from your missionerrore 2.png

Last doubt but the error I receive from the autopilot is because in the mission I set the final waitpoint as landing on the aircraft carrier?
