I don't understand even if it's EARLY ACCESS, at least the scenes in the trailer should be consistent with what we get... But unfortunately this is a disaster.

I viewed most of the area in free view, my initial vision of Afghanistan was that it should have the picture quality of Syria, but the reality is that it's similar to Nevada, even some areas are like the Caucasus... (Maybe these areas are unfinished, but I didn't find any of them perfect.

Looks like Nevada to me. And this is all from the supposed high rez part.

It looks so off. I'm thinking it might actually be something wrong with the installation of the map

No, problem exists on the current part of map, I can wait for the buildings and objects, but something is wrong with the textures:

Actually, I know that.

Obviously that 3/1 is also rough and poor quality

Could be. It's totally different from what I've seen. I'll try to fly in the same places to see.

I've done a repair, I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. No help

It just looks awful and far below what I expect for an ED's Early Acces product. I tested it flying a Kiowa and I could not belive the ugly patchwork of textures and the absurd topography of roads connnecting main urban centers through gentle valleys. 

Worst came when I thought 'well, it's and EA lets switch to F2 view and go as high as possible, sure it improves'.

It didn't.

I lost all my OpenXr settings after the update .

And ive lost clickable mouse only when i putbthe vr headset on? Before this worked, Any ideas? It works when the headsets not on. Hp reverb G2

 

Also looked in settings under Vr and the mouse is ticked? So not sure whats happening here. Also on the new front end the mouse is enabled.

& why would you expect any of it to be perfect, when it's all clearly labelled as an unfinished WIP?

Myself and a squad mate DD_Fruitbat flew a couple of quick recon missions I knocked up last night and I have to say flying from Tarinkot and Chaghcharan we both found the scenery stunning with fantastic detail. We first flew north from Tarinkot escorting a small convoy until it was spotted an insurgent mortar team waiting to ambush them. The compound I could put them in seemed exactly like those described in the book "Apache Dawn".

Then as we continued on our patrol the mountain ranges rose and fell with great detail in the towns and villages. We found ourselves at one point pushing 11,000 feet, defiantly not a happy place for the Kiowa and Apache!

We were enjoying our flight so much the Kiowa ran out of fuel on the way home and the Apache got just got to the landing area before both engines died with no fuel.

Its a big thumbs up from us.

I’ve held off for now and haven’t seen a lot of happy pilot reports so far. Wasn’t sure if it was EA or what but now I know it is.

Good then. Hope the better bits come soon, we can never have enough maps to fly on.

Just been on there to see what its like. Ive lost all my open xr settings, all my in dcs settings have been messed up, and my f2 view of the out side of the aircraft doesnt work with tje mouse now. Any ideas how i can sort the mouse issue?

Why do people keep stating "early access" as an excuse.  The whole map is considered early access but the S/W is not.  People don't seem to know the BIGNEWY posted in the Afghanistan Map FAQ that the S/W Afghanistan portion will release with future updates but FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES BE FEATURE COMPLETE.  This is the issue.

Everybody watching the trailer, then a gameplay video right after - especially from a helicopter perspective - is scratching their heads. We just had this with Kola recently, now Afghanistan. And i read lots of comments that said they won't buy anymore because they feel this is false advertising.

I really wish there was a more based advertising with images that reflect what average users see during play. Maybe even pre-release streams that show the product without any post-production cosmetics or set-up beautyscenes and quick cuts but what finished locations look like under normal conditions, how much of the map is planned in that level of detail and what parts are planned to be lower detail and how this level does look like. Honesty and trust in the products walks way longer than fabricated hype pictures.

The difference is, we knew all along that Kola was gonna be made with satellite date. We also had plenty of pictures from Kola that clearly showed this was gonna be a South Atlantic type map. So really there shouldn't be any surprises there. Afghanistan on the other hand had just a handful of pictures and a few seconds of perfectly choreographed beauty shots in video

Same experience with so many buggy places. I was told to report the locations but that would take forever if I have to give that for every screenshot. The details are at the bottom of the images anyway...

As far as i remember there was a info like "approx every 3 months we will release next part of the map"......
