For the sake of what? i do love my F-18 and carrier ops (SC) too, but i am old enough to understand limitations. So yes, there will be a map without a coast. How about exploring all those new airports!? Trust the devs. If you dont, dont buy. Simple. Else, start developing your own game maybe. Just sayin, Greetings K 7

Because the tantrums that are being brought with little regard to understanding the "why" of things, as well as refusing to accept the answers given, is beginning to get childish. Enjoy the new tech that's being pushed to make this map happen, and look forward to the future world map a few years from now. Or not. Just stop beating a dead horse thinking it'll do what you want. Minsky Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 (edited) @durka-durka @zerO_crash You don't see the whole picture. No requests were made by me in this thread. I did so in the appropriate place. But, instead of answering us in that topic, the mods decided to deny our request here. Citing concerns and assumptions - not technical facts - as the reason for denial. Hence my reaction. A couple messages later this discussion has peacefully ended over there. Despite hearing no sound technical arguments against our request, I went along with ED's decision and stopped bugging them about the idea. And then Kharrn showed up and really rubbed me the wrong way with his mentoring tone. Edited March 30, 2024 by Minsky 4 Dima | My DCS uploads

ED does not apparently want to go back and forth on pure opinion. With that said, don't worry, all is good. You got the answer, and now you know. While not all terrains will have all the features (Nevada is another example), that's just the reality of it all. At the end of the day, it is completely normal for Hornets, and anything carrier-related, to operate from airfields inland. More is better, but I imagine ED have their reasons (performance was mentioned as one). The nice thing with the current layout, is that we get whole of Afghanistan, a little Pakistan and even some India. The overall feeling of the map should be a harsh and dry climate, which really fits well with typical scenarios too. Don't worry, with time, extensions might come. You also got Syria and Persian Gulf, which permit navy in the region. We'll see what Iraq brings as well. Edited March 31, 2024 by zerO_crash 4 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

If its done for you, i'm glad. Think i came across too much like a "wise-ass". That was not my deeper intention. Im just happy to get more maps, especially with Afg, cause if been there for two tours. It feels like i played on Caucasus for a hundred years (started with LOMAC around 2005...) Goetsch Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 (edited) Let me share my thoughts on the practice of cutting areas for sale, which is actually not uncommon in flight simulation games, we can use MSFS as an example. First of all this if you only want to play one area, you don't have to spend more of your budget on areas you won't participate in. Secondly it's good for the overall detail of the map, like Syria and Sinai Peninsula which are mainly used nowadays, they only have the core area as the most modeled part of the map, while the main cities are surrounded by AI-generated or or low definition mapping :c ----Google Translate Edited April 1, 2024 by Goetsch 2
rfxcasey Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Any estimate on the disk space that will be required for the various version, its something to consider?

Yeah I had estimated something like that, I believe Cosmo speculated around that in his interview with Wags. It'd be nice if we could get an estimate on the sizes of the different versions, I don't know that that'll use the whole map enough to justify having the full version, but I could probably live with one of the regions occupying a permanent space on my system. Guessing that if one buys the whole map we'll be able to pick and choose which full fidelity regions we'll have installed at any given time? Or will it be an all or nothing thing? I'm surely nickel and diming here, I'll probably just take out a 1TB m.2 and replace it with a 4TB, but it'd still be nice information for us to have. ED has to have a very close approximation they could throw at us.

I can still fit Afghanistan and one more map on my DCS-dedicated 1TB m.2, then I'll have to get a 2TB. 1 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

thermalguy Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 I see lots of questions about map size and naval operation, I only want to know if we will get the BLU-82 Daisy Cutter. The C-130 is coming so this would make a great pairing with the Afgan map. 1

Anyone else had a problem? I'll probably let it get past midnight and start again tomorrow, no doubt both sides are very busy at the moment. Looking forward to it. Don't know if you got this sorted, but I had the same issues - in my case with the Chinook - though I am just about to head over to buy Afghan and Kola. I hope I don't get the same issue. I contacted support who were none the wiser, so I went to Paypal and they said my bank/card had refused the payment. This is strange, cos everything else always comes off Paypal (all my internet purchases, basically) with no issue at all - only a problem at ED shop. When I went to my bank, they said they had blocked it cos they didn't recognise Paypal's sort code/account details and so couldn't confirm it wasn't a scammer. I transferred the sum to Paypal from my bank (who still weren't happy about it) and then in the transaction, told Paypal to use my balance, rather than the usual preferred method. So you may like to try it that way, if you have issues. I have a feeling that the time of day may also have something to do with it. I've had this before when buying something from ED late at night (i.e. at a time when scammers in other parts of the world are active). I still think it's nuts cos I've used PP with my bank for over 20 years, but hey-ho. *edit: yes, I'm convinced it was a time of day thing - I just bought Afghanistan and Kola together using PP and it went through without issue Edited May 6, 2024 by Johnny Dioxin 1 Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

It just hung after getting to Paypal, and waiting for payment, so I figured it was sheer number of people waving their credit cards at the same time. Gave it about 15 mins then I cut the link, just in case of scammers etc. Next morning did it again, there was a 5 minute wait, and it worked. Thanks for advice though, appreciated 1

Thanks for advice though, appreciated I had a similar-ish issue. I haven't had issues on the ED store previously. For Afghanistan, I pre-ordered the full map, went to payment and put my credit card details in, typed in the bank's OTP and then "payment failed". Tried again a few minutes later with all the exact same details and it worked. Who knows! But either way, I'm really looking forward to this map

Can't wait to simulate my own Soviets vs Mujahideens realistic scenarios! Many thanks for this one! 3 When you can't prove something with words, let the math do the talking.
