Truly, I'm the herald of apocalypse, calling upon ED to not crunch their dev team with impossible timelines and to take their time as opposed to releasing a barebone module. Shame on me. This will be a great module no doubt, but they need to take their time with it. Not to push it out barely ready and forgetting about it for years on end. Don't shoot yourself in the foot and do it properly instead. 2

Don't shoot yourself in the foot and do it properly instead. Come on man, this is beaten to death already. Now we wait and see. I guarantee you a lot of drama when released. some try it and leave it waiting for patch. Some will like it and some will scream all over interweb.

Yeah, I don't disagree. But considering how that's not really the normal way of flying the aircraft, I'd say that in this instance, sitting out the early access until the fundamental flight control system is added is a very understandable thing to do. It's not just a random weapon that's missing, or a sensor or a radar mode. It's also not just some minor differences in the FM that will change. The Chinook is essentially a totally different aircraft depending on whether or not you have DAFCS active or not. And since it's a video game, I can guarantee you that the vast, vast majority of people who will operate this aircraft in game once the DAFCS is fully implemented, will just use it with the system being turned on. 2 hours ago, LuseKofte said: It is delayed, it is not complete and no matter how anyone feel about these facts it do not matter. It is what it is That's not really what the point of my message was. The problem I had was people thinking that missing out on the initial release is a bad idea since you will rob yourself of the experience of 'mastering' the module. But how are you going to master the module if you don't even have the basic flight controls that you're going to be using once they are available? 7 hours ago, MAXsenna said: I smell a challenge! This is a guess but I assume you mean the DAFCS system. I have no idea what it do. Other than I do understand it is a stabilisation system making it easier operate. The fact it is not ready, means to me it is a complex system ED need to get right. And it is totally fine they do that and spend time on it. If you read Bigenwy’s post you will see they have a make do trimmer that enable you to fly it just fine. I hope we get a great ai crew for it, because the pilots say it is a crew effort to fly it. You need your crew chief to tell you what to do 1
Chinooklad Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) Has there been a shadow update to the Chinook features? Some features popped up since the earliest feature list reveal it seems, including 'base NVGs', as quoted on their store page for the CH47. Great if so, I'm happy that we'll be able to operate the CH47 in all enviornments 24/7 since day one. Note for ED, I'd also be careful calling proper crew chiefs door gunners, they take offense to that from what I've heard null 28 minutes ago, LuseKofte said: I hope we get a great ai crew for it, because the pilots say it is a crew effort to fly it. You need your crew chief to tell you what to do Some clarification is needed whether we are getting proper crew chiefs or even an FE on release or just a field cook who got picked up for door guning duty. You mention correctly that CH47 is a crew operated aircraft. Crew in the back is not just for show, they are there because they are needed at practically all stages of flight, as was intended by the designers of the aircraft. Without functioning crew with proper calls, slingloading will be very challenging or nigh impossible and other routine operations will be more complicated. Chinook's dimensions are a consideration that properly voiced and developed crew will offset, by telling you whether you are cleared of obstacles, how close you are to the ground and so forth. This is how they do it on the Miltech MSFS 2020 CH47D. Works ok but there's no audio calls yet, not sure if they're planning to add them but would be useful in DCS. It's a similar style to the UH-1 Huey USL display. The Red dot on the polar display shows you where you are in relation to the load, the bar on the right shows the ideal height above the load. Also shows what hooks you are using and the cargo type. Edited July 8, 2024 by ChrisUK27 2

Hammer1-1 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 there used to be an external camera where you could see the load underneath, does that still work? There was a mod that kept that functionality ongoing but I dont think Ive used it since The Argo campaign released. MAXsenna Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 It's only for picking cargo, can't be used once connectedI stand corrected then. Slippa Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 Couple of days not reading this and well… Anyway, I’ve not seen that indicator either so glad that came up for the Huey. I could’ve done with it when learning to hook up but better late than never. cheers, I’ll have a look. 2

I just can't get used to it due to weird view shift, never could really figure out how to move head to look where I want to. 1
LuseKofte Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 When picking up cargo with the Mi8 if I go to crew chief view I have control. But going back to pilot seat my axis input no longer is the same. I have a hectic moment of recovering It is like ai have re-trimmed the chopper. One time I crashed in this situation I kind of learned Russian and stay in the cockpit now. I can almost constantly find the hook point 15 M above the ground by listening to crew chief cryptic orders. 2

Either way, the delay is a good thing, it's obviously not ready yet. There's less than 8 seconds of its footage in the newest trailer. 1
