So I haven't touched the game files at all,  started the game yesterday with no problems, today this happens:

Screenshot 2024-04-28 205949.png

here is the log:

autoupdate_templog.txtFetching info...

dcs.logFetching info...

This happened 2 weeks ago as well when I tried to run someones trackfile, game crashed that time and after I tried to run the game again I got the above message.

Apparently DCS.exe in bin-mt gets quarantined by Avast Antivirus. After repair all is back to normal.

You tagged this as solved, but that doesn't solve the issue of antivirus moving this file to quarantine.

so do you have a solution for antivirus not to quarantine DCS.exe file (other than exclusion)?

You need to submit the file to Avast as a false positive. They then analyze it and take it from there.

Avast is likely picking up on the exe encryption and flagging it.

I did, because at first you were stuck, then you found a solution which may help others.  When users look for solutions, they first look for "solved" threads.

I second @AdrianL. The issue comes from Avast. If enough users tell them that DCS.exe is to be trusted, they will check and do what's necessary so you don't get the same issue again.

I use default Windows Defender and have no such issue.

Alright, thought ED should do something like that.

Thanks for help.
Why? Avast is at fault here. Should ED submit every file to every AV vendor? There are numerous discussions on this. Stop using Avast and use Defender included in Windows. I've excluded Saved Games and DCS core files, and DCS loads twice as fast.

Yeah avast is at fault, but should I do the work?

I'm the customer and ED's product DCS gets its files deleted by Avast.

If anyone should do the work its not me 😉

If your dog bites your cat, you don't ask the cat to avoid the dog, you teach the dog.

Avast must be taught that the DCS files it sees as evil are in fact OK. This is usually done by annoyed antivirus users.

Well, you did the work to get into your predicament by installing Avast in the first place.

Well I just removed Avast, since it isn't really needed. It was just a ghost from the past stuck with me.

Ensure Windows Defender is enabled then (it should activate automatically as soon as Windows detects you don't use an antivirus, but it's worth checking). It looks like this in W11:

A reboot may be necessary.

Some of these AV's are getting paranoid recently with all this memory resident type of stuff similar to 'line runner' or 'line dancer'... loads from a hidden token every time the server is started. Well, that's not exactly aimed at the gaming rigs, lol.     Windows Defender is 'cool' and doesn't get excited about some silly dll's or DCS.exe 😕
