Thanks, well, if all those planes come with the Iron Cross Edition then that's the better deal. :smartass:

Just to clarify, you don't get all the planes from the store with the IC edition, I think its just a couple of extra ones over and above what folk like me paid from day one ... what you do get is an up to date version from the word go Rise of Flight, after a PC crash ... I had to patch mine up recently from my digital download and I was over 1GB to do that.

Rise of Flight Iron Cross is a no brainer for those looking to get into the sim, especially the boxed version that has a map and other stuff.

If you'd like to buy all additional content for RailWorks (a train simulator) it would cost over $600. You don't have to own everything. It's additional revenue for developer.

These are high quality planes definately underpriced for it's details and fidelity.

This might be the argument that wins me over!

So thats over $129.00 for all the addon planes? Wow, not sure I like this new way. What do you guys think about it? I am seeing it more and more (buy the full game at full price then given the option to buy the rest of the game at a $$$?) Dont get me wrong, the game looks great and I will buy it but it just gives me pause.

That's a concerning trend that I don't like either.

I've been flying alot of ROF lately and loving it. Looking at Su-25T and KA-50, we have only got two advanced flight models with what we fly in DCS/FC2. The other FC2 jets can be flown with feet on the floor even.

Every plane in ROF has an advanced flight model, that means almost 20 unique aircraft with great flight and making full use of those fancy rudder pedals some of us have.

The aircraft modelling required is hugely more detailed than something like IL-2, and it would take months to model one if it was only a single individual, and only then comes the rest of the work to code the flight model. I'm very happy to pay $10 for one of these planes, it's much more worth it than the excessive $10 I was charged for a beer tonight

Also something new to know, they have now bundled planes for anyone with ROF ICE version to pay $42 and get all of the planes for that price: http://riseofflight.com/en/store/superbundles

For me it is my first guns-dogfight sim, as my IL-2 time was limited and mostly bombers, but I think now I am addicted

What to do when A-10C comes out I don't know, somehow I will find time for both!

The new sopwith pup is deadly. Very easy to aim with it.

Also now the planes are on sale for 3.99 for a few days. I think it ends on the 12th.

This looks interesting, does anyone have a little review for it? I love Wings of Prey and am thinking about getting this.

EDIT: Is the Campaign already in-game? I read it in their news but it didn't say it was released.

I've been flying sims on and off since the mid 90's and nothing comes close to RoF for giving you the feeling of actually flying. It is also has the most beautiful enviroment and has the best damage model I've seen.

To get the most of RoF you will need two things:

TrackIR preferably version 5

Some form of rudder system, as in not keys or keys mapped to your stick. Either proper pedals or at the least a rocker like I have on the X-45.

Try it, the full game is a free download just limited to 14 days.

Even that is out of date. Leaps and bounds since 777 studios took over.

There are 3 static campaigns and an auto generated static career mode.

But a dynamic career comes in December along with multi seat bombers handley page "the bloody paralyser" and the dreaded Gotha.

Only sim I've ever played every day of the week. Multiplayer is intense, my hands sweat and my neck hurts after some dogfights!

I am trying to get my Freetrack NoIR working, and I am also getting a X-52 soon. Good enough? Is flying one of these things comparable to a WW2 fighter other than speed and agility? Sorry for all the questions, I cannot get the demo due to the worst internet sever that I have to use. That reminds me, do you need internet to play?

You no longer need Internet for:

- generator missions

- single missions

- the 3 campaigns

You do need Internet for the career mode to ensure no cheating or pirating as stats are kept on a leaderboard.

Multiplayer needs net for all games ;)

X52 is good however many recommend force feedback because this sim implemnts realistic stick centre position. Consider the force feedback g940 set it's good value and includes rudder pedals which are a great help!

1.016 is coming with moving clouds, moving cloud shadows, enhanced reflections of earth and sky colour on planes, plus the HP O/400.

Checkout the video of the ancient ancestor of our A-10 bomber :)

Anyone else having fun flying this old crate ? :pilotfly::D

I have never gone between two sims that contrast so much as DCS:A10 and Rise of Flight.

After RoF, DCS is like Digital over load, ultra futuristic :robot:

After DCS, RoF is like, "How did they not crap a load every time they got into one of these motorised, flying wicker baskets? :fear:"

I love it

The new patch features and Handley Page are really great.

Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64.

it is beautiful, but even at the lowest graphic settings it is almost unplayable, frame rates in the single digits and massive freezes.

Have you updated? I'm running it perfectly fine on a macbook pro through bootcamp. My settings aren't jacked but it's VERY smooth. Wonderful sim.
