I'm struggling to get the ILS system work.

I tune the VOR/ILS panel to the correct freq.

Select ILS on the Mode Selector and ILS illuminates on the HSI.

Turn on flight director.

I have tried each of the settings on the BRG/DIST.

No guidance is provided on the ADI.

Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?

I initially had issues as well. THen realized that I had to tune the course knob to the provided course for the ILS. Bearing/distance I leave it on TAC, Navigation mode on ILS. It works now beautiful

also, you might need to contact the tower as some towers will turn it on only after

Make sure you did tune the correct ILS. Each airport has only one active runway, and more often than not if you don't get any guidance, you tuned the wrong one. Contact tower to find out which one is in use.

The tower however will not turn on a specific ILS just because you contacted them. If the runway in use has an ILS, that one will always be on.

Cheers - the airfield I tried only had one ILS, the step I missed was not setting the course so I hope that was the error.

The players reported that the ILS does not work in Syria, while it works almost normally in the Caucasus and Kola, for example.

I noticed that the HSI Course Deviation Bar gets stuck in the center if you fly away from the localizer, being in its zone. If you fly approximately in the direction of the localizer, the HSI bar works correctly. This looks like a bug, because in many other real and virtual planes, the bar never freezes in the center, except in the case of complete loss of signal.

The deviation bar seems to lock out when you are in FROM mode, vice what would be TO mode.

I can add that Andersen 24R on Marianas works, though I don't recall what my mission wind settings were.

Yes, it is quite possible. However, as far as I know, the TO/FROM mode function is typical for VOR equipment, but not for ILS. These systems have different operating principles. They are connected only by the same frequency range and a similar principle (but only the visual principle) of indicating the horizontal situation.

Agreed. I was just saying what I observed in dcs.
