Sawyer Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I bought the Yak 52 in August 2018, 2140 days ago. Any chance of a major update or is it just abandonware at this point? $39.99 isn't small change. 4

ED had an order to make a Yak-52 simulation for a customer and the agreement allowed them to make it a purchasable module. So you could say it's abandonware by default.
Kang Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 While one might surmise so now, it does in no way imply such. I believe most people who bought the module did so under the assumption that it would indeed be completed, especially considering there is so little in it to complete anyway. 5

So you could say it's abandonware by default. They fixed a few minor bugs fairly recently, so it isn't completely abandoned. There is a wish list though, which implies they CAN add, or at least modify, SOMETHING, if they wanted to. I posted a landing gear update request there just now.
Etask Posted June 17, 2024 Posted June 17, 2024 You know what's funny? It is still in early access...after all this time. Bought it as well many years ago, was hoping for some updates and a damage model...but I do still enjoy flying it once in a while. 1
Mr.Jazzy Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Is this still abandonware? Was wandering if I should buy it on this summer sale. MSI z790, i5 13600k, 128 Gb DDR4, RTX 4090, 980 pro 2 Tb, MSI 2 Tb, 4 SATA SSD, 3 HDD, SB AE-7, Acer 35" curved UltraWide 200Hz, LG CX 55" HDR 120Hz G-Sync, Logitech G510s, Razer Tartarus v2, Logitech g502, Pimax crystal light, Thrustmaster WARTHOG, Viper TQS mission pack, RS FSSB MK II Ultra, TPR pedals, Cougar MFDs, Logitech flight switch and radio panels, x56 throttle, Saitek throttle quadrant, Trackir 5, Buttkicker gamer+, Moza r12, RSV2, CRP, HGP, Steam controller, Sony Dualsense, Edifier s760d 5.1 540Wt, Beyerdynamic dt 990 (600 ohm), dt 770 pro (250ohm), Razer stream controller, Elgato stream deck XL ALL maps and modules except Mig-19
Mr_sukebe Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 It’s still missing somethings. Having said that, I can’t help but enjoy flying it 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
Theodore42 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 It's a great aerobatic aircraft. If you want to do a bunch of snap rolls or spins or maneuvers from Aresti notation, then this is what you're looking for. It showcases the standards of ED's flight model. Competitor's products won't even do the right things when making normal inputs for aerobatic maneuvers. Search Youtube for "Yak-52 aerobatics" and if that looks like fun then you should get it.
Mr.Jazzy Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I got it. Now I'm wondering where and how to learn the aerobatics ) MSI z790, i5 13600k, 128 Gb DDR4, RTX 4090, 980 pro 2 Tb, MSI 2 Tb, 4 SATA SSD, 3 HDD, SB AE-7, Acer 35" curved UltraWide 200Hz, LG CX 55" HDR 120Hz G-Sync, Logitech G510s, Razer Tartarus v2, Logitech g502, Pimax crystal light, Thrustmaster WARTHOG, Viper TQS mission pack, RS FSSB MK II Ultra, TPR pedals, Cougar MFDs, Logitech flight switch and radio panels, x56 throttle, Saitek throttle quadrant, Trackir 5, Buttkicker gamer+, Moza r12, RSV2, CRP, HGP, Steam controller, Sony Dualsense, Edifier s760d 5.1 540Wt, Beyerdynamic dt 990 (600 ohm), dt 770 pro (250ohm), Razer stream controller, Elgato stream deck XL ALL maps and modules except Mig-19

virgo47 Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 While a few bugs are fixed here and there, for me it's an abandonware - I just hope not forever. I despise some cheap bugs most actually, I don't care about the damage model, but that controls named "xy toggle" don't work as toggle? Was there any QA? Or did it brake soon after and they left it there as many other bugs for years after? Yak-52 embodies all the cheap bugs in many other modules that are 99% easy to fix... yet left there. Other than that... it's a sweet prop trainer, would be a great module for those who like these. I do. But the quality is terrible. 4 L-39, F-4E, F-5E, F-14, F/A-18C, MiG-15, F-86F, AJS-37, C-101, FC2024 Yak-52, P-47, Spitfire, CE2 UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50 III, SA342 NTTR, PG, SY, Chnl, Norm2, Kola, DE Supercarrier, NS430, WWII, CA VKB STECS+Gladiator/Kosmosima+TPR DCS Unscripted YouTube "Favourite" bugs: 1) Object local camera fast/slow inverted, 2) Yak-52 toggles not toggling, 3) all Caucasus ATC bugs
Hotdognz Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 It fear it will never be fixed and left to rot as an example of what ED does badly, I still enjoy flying it but I tell anyone who is getting into DCS to look at the good and bad side of EDs work with the Yak being a sample of the bad side. 1
Freakmeister51 Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 (edited) I too love flying the Yak-52 but need voice attack to bring up the knee board as I fly in VR. I try to make mission based flights as aerobatics don’t interest me much. The knee board has been unaccessible via key binding for ages. I have put this on the forums multiple times but it has clearly been ignored by ED. Not to mention the untrimmable yaw issue. Edited September 6, 2024 by Freakmeister51
Phantom453 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Its a fully paid for module and should be worked on, updated and completed, just like any other module. People paid full price for this module and they should have a completed module delivered in return. To not do so is just ripping off the customer, pure and simple. 4 1

There just isn’t enough people complaining about it. 3
prestupnik Posted April 19 Posted April 19 The plane became more massive and stable on the ground and in the air. Much more predictable behavior Great update, thanks
