Honestly been so sick and tired of these problems, I just rolled back to DCS 2.9.5.55918 and have not spent a single minute troubleshooting anything since. I only get so many few hours a week that I get the luxury to sit down and play. Throw this at me in my 20's and I would have been all about the workarounds. But I'm a bitter old man now who just wants some peace and quiet.

Several performance issues after the latest update:

1. FPS is generally very good, but randomly will completely tank anywhere from low 50s to around 8fps. Alt-Tabbing out of DCS and back in seems to help most times but generally when these random drops happen, DCS is unplayable.

2. Any mouse movement causes intense stutter while the mouse is moving.

Could this have anything to do with Nvidia Latency mode setting?

Switching to 500Hz in Amoury Cate for my ROG Spartha has resolved the stutters. How annoying! You only get few hours to play a week and everytime you return you must troubleshoot something after DCS update.

Can confirm switching from 1000hz to 500hz fixed stuttering in VR for me.

Never been an issue until a recent patch (last played some months ago). Why is there a new performance decrease/bug every 2nd update, come on!

managed to bring it under control by doing everything suggested in this thread and then setting Nvidia cp vsync to adaptive for dcs. 🙄

Well, I´m having the same problems now with stutters while moving the mouse. Even happens when moving the map around with the mouse in the mission editor.
Worked fine before and I didn´t change the mouse or any settings 😞

I´m really hoping for a fix soon. I don´t want to install some program to change around the polling rate every time I play DCS...

you mean use the 3D application setting?

Nope, I mean VSync adaptive in the Nvidia CP 🙂

here's the screenshot of the cp

Perhaps your Nvidia control panel is out of date? maybe that is why you are not seeing it?

I've had this option available for a while now, really not sure why you can't see it, could be a card thing, I'm on a 3090 if that helps

here's the info on the settings, so you can see what it does

the internal VSync for DCS does not work properly. it causes a little lag fps from every few seconds (even on menu screens), this issue has been reported in other threads along with video evidence and is easily repeatable, it has been present for several patches but ignored, of course... to get around the VSync drop issue I was using fps limit set to 60 but as per the previous posts in  this thread that is now having issues as well, I have found that VSync adaptive in the control panel is about the only thing that works now

I use it in a few other games, I've had great results with it, I'm really not sure why you cant see it in your panel

I guess do an update maybe? 🙂 its a great setting, I hope you can find out how to get it

@LHP i did indeed have an older driver. after install to 561.09, VSYNC setting are same choices as before.

however, what i was trying to infer with my VSYNC settings suggestions was that one should not mix the setting in game with what is in NCP.

meaning

game = VSYNC ON = leave the NCP to app controlled

game = VSYNC OFF = change NCP to anything you wish

it is my understanding, and i could be wrong, is having both game and NCP VSYNC set to on conflict with each other.

i use GSYNC. so i do not use VSYNC.

as far as I know, you are correct about the VSync thing

my current settings, that are currently working

ingame fps - unlimited

in-game VSync - OFF

NCP VSync - adaptive

+ All the other settings required to make this game run, mouse polling rate below 1000, hags off etc etc etc ad nausium

Is anybody still getting it?

I'm still getting it, internal and external.

A friend of mine is also still having the issue

This is my first time playing DCS in a fortnight, and I'm having to tweak settings. AGAIN.

I hope for a fix soon

Quit DCS and start it again

If i see in the main screen that moving the mouse are producing fps drops, just quit DCS and restart again, and at least for me is fixed. The issue in my end is random

i suppose it is possible that your issues are the result of some other cause. i never really had the issue or it was imperceptible.

Did you receive any updates? Windows, Chipset, GPU-Drivers? Especially with updates to the game and gpu-drivers, you need to purge the shader cache. It will then stutter some on first loads while the shaders are recompiled, but should be better grom the second time.......

Try dropping your mouse polling rate to 500 or less.

Cheers!
